Best pitch in baseball and why? who is known for throwing it?

Are the Boston Red Sox's drunk on the field?
Has to be the knuckleball by Tim Wakefiled simply for the fact that no one else is throwing it. Plenty of other guys throw the change up and curve and slider but the knuckleball is completly unique, so few pitchers actually throw it.Was Jackie Robinson really the first black baseball player to play professional?
I personally like the knuckleball. Thrown by Tim Wakefield. The most fun pitch to watch is Barry Zito's 12-6 curveball, but it may not be the "best" pitch...anyone who can throw a fastball at or around 100 mph may have the "best" pitch. Mariano Rivera's cut fastball is pretty darn effective, too. and Sliders (Randy Johnson at his peak) can be close to impossible to hit when thrown well.
The best pitch is the one the hitter is not expecting to see. Greg Maddux has thrown a lot of those.
Why don't the baseball players play in short-shorts?
Best pitch is Johan Santana's changeup, which is all the better due to a 93-95 mph fastball & a change he throws at 80-85 from the same arm slot...Nest would be Rivera's cut fastball...1 pitch, 10+ years, few have hit it w/ any respectabilty..
Best pitch ive ever seen,,,19 yr old Doc Godden's Lord Charles Curveball..Rick Ankiel had one on par in 2001..
filty pitch, but its not kind on pitchers arms so u see less an less of it...even Zito has moved away.and zeto's curve was nothing like Doc's, or Ankiels.
Randy Jhonson's slider bc its too fast ( it was faster altough) and moves a lot seems to head to the shoulders and ends there just above the plate.
it's so neat that kills birds
When is josh beckets birthday and how old is he?
Pedro Martinez' change-up or maybe Johan Santana's slider. I saw them demolish big name hitters with this pitch.Trevor Hoffman's change-up. We're talking about a guy who reinvented himself after a shoulder injury robbed him of his velocity. He evolved from a being a flamethrower with a mid 90s fastball (the type of closer that almost always ends up flaming out once it's gone) to a player who actually pitches, using command, location, and a change-up that looks almost exactly the same as his fastball, give or take 8-10 mph. I've seen him fool Albert Pujols, Barry Bonds, and many others with that pitch.
Why is red sox spelled with an x?
The best pitch is the change-up.So many young pitchers try to throw it 150 miles per hour that they forget about the Change-up.It puts the hitter in a tough situation when he see's it because often the hitter will swing to early and miss it,or sometimes only get a little bit of wood on it and pop it up for an out.Johan Santana has a good change-up,Tervor Hoffman,CC Sabathia, and Jaime Moyer.Others have a good on too but I can't think of any names now.that is easy the best pitch is the illegal one the spitter. Gaylord Perry is probably the master of this pitch (in the Hall of Fame because of it thou he was never caught throwing it). The reason I say this is the best pitch is because if you can throw it an get away with it then the ball moves in so many directions and is almost unhitable. It's illegal because you are tampering with the ball
Papi for president! How you like that Homer Yankees?
The knucleball! Phil Niekro was the king!Is there a lot of people wearing Dice-K t-shirts or jerseys where you live?
i would have to say marino's cut fastball. then roger clemens with is 4 seem fastball n randy johnson n his slider at his peek. knuckleballer wakefield but only if its ON if he can't do it well its a homerun machine. What two players have hit walkoff grand slams this year?
Te best pitch is the Gyro ball thrown by Daisuke Matsuzaka. It moves from the inside of the plate to the outside. It is hard to hit and is a trick. Matsuzaka was fought for by many teams because of the gyro ball. He accepted going to the Boston Red Sox. He is a rookie. This year is the first year he play United States Baseball.Orlando Hernandez eephus pitch
Palmball. Roy Halladay
First of all... Matsuzaka doesn't actually THROW the Gyroball you dope.
As for the best pitch in baseball, I think the answer is obvious.
Mariano Rivera's Cutter. It's basically the ONLY PITCH he's thrown for the last 10+ years. He runs it in on the hands and saws off bats like they're tooth picks.
Even when you MAKE solid contact with his cutter, you pull it foul for the most part. The guy is recongized as the best closer in baseball history... and all he throws is one pitch.
It's equally effective against lefties and righties too. Actually, maybe more effective against lefties.
How bad are the red sox going to lose in the playoffs this year?
The Fastball, Nolan Ryan. It sets up every pitch, most guys cannot throw a good changeup without a decent fastball. How much could i get for a baseball signed by all the original twins players.?
i gotta go with mariano rivera's sinker. UNHITTABLE and has been for years!SINKER!! Chien-Ming Wang is known for throwing it.his sinkers are awesome..cait wait to have you back in the starting rotation again Wang. GO WANG! GO YANKEES!
Who was the first Cleveland Indian to bat .400 in a season?
Personally, I tend to agree with Joe Morgan in that a well-placed fastball with movement (a la' cutter, 2-seamer, whatever name you want to give it) is the best pitch in baseball.A knuckleball is undeniably a difficult pitch to hit, but the pitcher has no control over where it's going. Keep the score close against a knuckleballer and you will beat him.
When Boston won the World Series, was there really a newspaper headlined "Hell Freezes Over" ?
Euwell Blackwell threw the "Euphus" pitch.a slow high lob. Ted Williams crushed one for a HR in the All Star game. It was fun to watch. I think Fritz Peterson of the Yankees had a simlilar pitch as well.More Questions & Answers...
