Has any catcher besides Jason Kendall batted leadoff in recent years?
Question:Kendall doesn't have Carl Crawford speed but he's fairly fast. He's a 12 year veteran who catches almost every day, why doesn't he have "catcher's legs?" Are there other catcher's whose legs have lasted this long?
Answers:
I can think of Brian Downing with the Angels in the late 1970's, early 1980's just before he went to the outfield.
As for catcher's legs, it is all of the squating they do over their careers gets to them and the blocking of the plate is not good for them.
