Best player of my generation?
Question:I noticed when I answered "who is the greatest living player" with either Willie Mays or Barry Bonds, I received 3 thumbs down, presumably for listing Bonds. So I was wondering, who do you think is the best player of my generation (Generation X)? This includes all players born between 1961 and 1981.

It still staggers me that he had a .609 OBP in 2004..that's almost unbelievable to think he reached base 61% of the time! He's not my favorite player, and I suspect that he cheated, but those numbers are staggering.
I believe A-Rod is probably the best player of Gen X. My guess is that he'll end up with better stats (including more HR's) than Bonds and will have less controversy during his career.
Do you cheer for your team 100% even when they're losing?
Putting aside his recent injuries I would have to consider Ken Griffey Jr. Of course his career is not over but I can't think of any player in their prime who was better. Other considerations would be A-Rod and if you look closely to his career stats, Derek Jeter.Did the Yankees finally win a game?

Greatest player of Gen X...A-Rod in my mind will stand one day as the best ball player ever: he has the offensive skills, the defensive prowess, and the longevity to exploit his skills for many years to come.
As far as an ambassador for baseball goes - Craig Biggio will stand forever as what the quintessential ballplayer is supposed to be. Not just because of his abilities, but because of what he means to his team, his town, and the game itself. Very few other players can measure up to the bar set by Biggio for what it means to be a great leader in the clubhouse and on the field as well as in the community.
Another would have been Ryne Sandberg but he was born in 1959.
What's your favorite basball anecdote?
I'd say probably Alex Rodriguez. The guy is well on his way to breaking whatever home run record that Bonds has.Oddly... whether you go A-Rod or Bonds... neither has won a world series... and that ought to be a factor.
Albert Pujols is too young for consideration here.
Bo Jackson is a shame... if not for that football injury, he'd have been one of the greats, maybe the best of the generation.

I'll say Alex Rodriquez. He's won 2 AL MVP awards, almost to the 500 HR club, over 2100 career hits, and he is only 31 years old with many more years to come in his career.More Questions & Answers...
