What is the most important position in baseball?

HAHA, LOL, Phillies Got Owned?

I think it's the pitcher, but:
Every position on the field is important. Every play made wouldn't be done. The left fielder, center fielder, right fielder, third baseman, shortstop, second baseman, first baseman, pitcher, and catcher all have significant roles that will help a team succeed. Here are their imnportances:

Outfielders (left fielder, center fielder, and right fielder)- These players have to have good arms. They control the good hitter's game. They have to be able to catch the pop ups and make plays fast. If a ball gets passed them, it probably means a run for the other team. These people have to guess where the ball is going to end up, get to the place, and decide where to throw it. People think that the outfield is important, but indeed it is. Without them, runs would rapidly produce for the other team.

Infielders (third baseman, shortstop, second baseman, and first baseman)- The infielders of the game are extremely important. They have to get to the ball and make the easy out. This is where most outs are produced. They have to be ready at all times. They need to do correct things (stance, throwing technique, readiness, paying attention) to have a good defense so the other team does not win.

Catcher- The catcher sets the frame of where the ball should go. The catcher not only sets up for the pitcher, but gets people out at other bases when a player is stealing. They need to be ready. They need to catch the ball, and preferably not drop it. If they do, a run could score or a base could be stolen. They also need a good arm.

Pitcher- Pitchers are the most used player and if I had to choose a most important position, it would be the pitcher. The pitcher starts everything. The pitcher throws the strikes. The pitcher controls the game because unless their ball is thrown, the game and/or play hasn't started yet. They have to have a good arm and good pitch. They are the only player who takes part in EVERY play. They are used extensively.

I believe the shortstop is the most important position in baseball. Because it is the player who fills in the gap. When the second or third baseman has to move in order to make a play, he has to cover for them at their base.

All of the positions are equally important. A great pitcher is useless with no run support or a weak defense behind him. Even the greatest pitcher relies on his defensive players. A great shortstop is worthless if the first baseman sucks. A great catcher can make a good pitcher better. The beauty of baseball is how great players can be showcased amidst a great team.

The SS (excluding pitcher and catcher, cuz they aren't really positions) you need the most athleticism and range to get to the ball, plus a strong throw. Aside from the fans, the most important position on the team (which is what I think you mean) is the Manager. He has to assess the skills of all the players, keep abreast of the players coming through the farm system, be involved with upper management decisions on trades, deal with the basic team finances all while taking care of the day-to-day decisions of playing the game.
