One of my favorites was joe jacksons nick name. Shoeless Joe Lackson. Most nicknames follow a story, which i think that's why i love that one so much because of the story.Apperently, Joe Jackson got a new pair of spikes that were too small and hurt his feet. He got so sick of them that he just decided to take them off in the 6th inning and he just played in his socks. The other players kidded him and called him Shoeless Joe, and the name stuck.
