How do you "roll" or "work in" a softball bat?

Question:Rolling is an artifical method of fast pacing the working in of a bat but the method is unknown to me. I have heard you could hit your bat with a rubber mallet to simulate 500 hits but rolling creates a sweetspot for the full bat.
