In Little League Baseball, after you hit the ball and running to first, can you slide into 1st?
Question:i was umping a game a kid hit a grounder to second base. The second basemen bobled the ball and the kid was fast. He slid into 1st, even thought he was safe, i called him out because you weren't allowed to slide. The coach arguged you could. Which is it?

I don“t think there is a rule against sliding into 1st in little league. Sounds stupid to do if you are not trying to get away from a tag, but theres nothing ilegal with that!he's out unless he's returning to base. (say the pitcher tries to pick him off as he's taking a lead or he overruns the base going to second but changes his mind and goes back)

it's kind of dangerous when done without proper instruction, not only for the kid doing the sliding, but the 1st baseman as well.
I can not get L.A.angels in my 'scoreboard.WHY?
You can slide into first, buts its pointless obviously sense you can just run right through first..Who will win the world series this year?
Nothing illegal about it. Yet it is stupid.I need a name and a uniform color for my 6 yr olds t ball team?
I wouldn't have called him out because I don't think its illegal in little league it just shows that the coach hasn't taught the kids that they don't have to slid into first. The coach should have taught the kids that you can run past first and turn right and you are still safe. But at the same time little boys like to slid and get dirty. I wouldn't have made such a big deal out of it.How is my team? ( please rate from 1-100 )?
Usually you are only supposed to slide into second base when you are getting chased to be tagged (on a bunt). You gotta remember its little league.i would have called him safeWill the K.C. Royals ever be a winning team again?
Little League's ONLY rule about sliding is that you cannot slide head-first while ADVANCING to a base. You can slide head-first when returning to a bag - eg: you round second, then have to dive back .
You can slide FEET-first ANYWHERE - including first.
Has any team ever had 3 players hit over 40 home runs in 1 season?
Sliding feet first is not allowed. Sliding headfirst, however, just as in Major League Baseball, IS allowed.More Questions & Answers...
