John smoltz is 121-1 after the 8th inning?

Having a DH is harder on a pitcher. Usually the pitcher doesn't have to exert much energy with an AB since most can't hit. Their biggest contribution to the offense is a sac bunt every once in a while. That is one reason I like the DH. Pitchers are supposed to pitch and hitters are supposed to hit. In today's game, nobody expects the pitcher to get a hit, including themselves, and 95% of their time is spent working and thinking about pitching. So why should we make them hit? It isn't even fun to watch (though sometimes it is funny). It also is a way to "hide" a weak bat in the lineup. How often do you see the #8 hitter not given a chance to hit b/c they know the pitcher is coming up next and thats almost a sure out. That of course changes in the late innings if there is a pinch hitter, but for the first few times through the lineup the pitcher only needs to pitch, or at least worry about, 7 batters. That said, I do not wish the NL to add the DH rule because it is a tradition, that many people love, and baseball is a game of tradition. Though I like the AL and DH and I think it is fun to watch, it would be a great loss to change it one way or the other.

Milk Carton Gloves?

I still say the DH takes away from the game. That is why I like the National League games so much better. You see talents pitchers are suppose to have and some pitchers can learn to hit or do great bunting. They can have too much rest waiting and that is not good.

Are you happy that for the first time ever the baseball draft will be televised?

The DH makes the American League tougher to pitch in because of the extra hitter. No doubt. Most NL pitchers don't gain rest because they're only on base about once every other start.

Still, the DH sucks.

Why is selling baseball ticket on ebay different from selling them in frontof the stadium?

I agree with downtown! I think having the DH makes the game more exciting in the offensive catogory but I would not change a thing either way! In the World Series it makes it more interesting to see the American League pitchers have to hit when they are in the National League Ballpark!

Why on earth does Derek Jeter make 21 million per season?

All the DH does is benefit the fans. Nothing else. Doesn't help the pitcher, doesn't hurt the pitcher. I think it just adds more excitement to the game. You know, for people who think baseball moves to slow. I think the DH takes away from strategy but hey, I love the Oakland A's but too bad their main DH is on the DL right now.

Jason Varitek?

Seeing as how most pitchers are on pitch counts, the extra rest from not batting isn't a factor. An average starter will go about 6-7 innings anyway. The DH does take away from the game, because it allows a less skilled fielder to play everyday.
