What can the Cincinnati Reds do to fix their bullpen?
Question:It seems like every time they use their bullpen they end up blowing the lead or lose their chance to come back. It's 2004 all over again.

Part of the problem is the way Narron uses the bullpen. He's one of those managers obsessed with pitch count and will pull Aaron Harang in the 7th when he's throwing a 1-hitter or whatever just because he's thrown 110 pitches. Bill James talks about the problem in baseball of bringing in your 12th best pitcher (Mike Stanton, in the Reds' case) just because he's a lefty to face a lefty in key situations. Narron will then compound the problem by leaving Stanton in after he walks that one lefty to face 4 straight right-handers, so then he gets killed, of course. I honestly feel that Narron has single-handedly blown 5 games all by himself, just with his pitching changes. Sometimes it feels like he's just drawing names out of a hat. Sure, the bullpen isn't great, but it will be better when Bray and Guardado get back, and until then Narron could alleviate the problem by just sticking with his starters longer, and by cutting out the random reliever switches. The Rocket to join Andy in the Bronx?

Isn't there a general rule in Major League Baseball on pants length?
I am a Cincinnati die hard fan and have been frustrated by the bullpen. But tonight they had Milton pitching and he has not won since August so they had to go to the bullpen and Weathers blew it. I wish I had a good answer. I am just tired of them losing and especially at near the end of the game.Which baseball stadiums are closest to Tokyo?
Sorry pal, it sounds like the Reds are stuck unless they find a way to change their coaching philosophies effectively for the sake of their bullpen going on what you've said. There are very few teams in the league that don't have any concerns with their pitching staff whatsoever. Next year won't be any different either. It seems the Reds have an issue in an area that isn't exactly easy to trade for. Pitching, pitching, pitching.
It sounds me like from your perspective that the Reds better start grooming some bullpen prospects out of their minor league system for the future.

Die hard Reds fan here, the best way to fix the Reds bullpen is two fold, 1. Plastic Explosives and 2. Open tryouts. Cant be any worse than the bums we got out there now.More Questions & Answers...
