Astros fans.?

Question:In their prime (and at their BEST), who do you throw in at first: Bagwell or Berkman..AND why?

Also, Do we really care that Pettitte and Clemens are gone? They should've considered themselves privledged to have been welcome to stop in. (We did them a favor).

Answers:

Do you think the next commissioner will ban Barry bonds for life and not allow to get in the hall of fame?

Offensively - Berkman will easily match Bagwell eventually and I'd say they're even but Bagwell gets him in defense (in his prime). Bagwell was a solid defensive 1st bagger; I think Berkman's defense is adequate but by no means is it stellar.

As for Pettite and Clemens - This is just the nature of the beast. Players want to go where they have the best chance to win and also, the paychecks that Steinbrenner hand out are a heckuva lot nicer than what Drayton McLane is willing to throw around. While I'm dissapointed that they're gone, I don't think they're bums. I just wish they would've been a little more loyal to their team and town. Then again, New York was their team before the Astros.

What stadium did the philadelphia starts play in?

bagwell.

8 or 9 seasons in a row .300+ BA, 30+ HR, 100+RBI. That's consistency in the middle of your lineup. Just put Berkman in the OF!

When did the Cleveland Indians change their uniforms?

What a crybaby. You Astro fans went crazy when Clemens and Pettitte joined your team, and now that they left, they're bums?? In case you hadn't noticed, they brought a lot of attention and respect to your team, and got you to a World Series. Yes, Pettitte is from Texas, but he pitched 9 years for New York. So the Astros can sign players from other teams, but you don't like when they do it to you? Astro fans also thought Clemens was the second coming of Jesus when he signed. He packed the park every game he started. Also, he has a 10 year personal services contract with the Astros, beginning after he retires, so he will be back in some capacity. You Astro fans worshipped those guys, now that they are gone, you never liked them anyway, right?

Yes, I do think you care that Pettitte and Clemens are gone, otherwise you wouldn't be crying and moaning about it on here. You did not do them a favor, they did the Astros one. I've followed Pettitte ever since he was in rookie ball for the Yankees in '91, and we are glad to have him back. It's just too bad he wasted three years of his career with the Houston Astros, of all teams. It's a pleasure to have him back where he belongs.

Also, Bagwell was just a compiler. He piled up the numbers in the regular season, but disappeared in the post season, just like Biggio. Killer B's indeed!

Why do left-handed hitters have such a hard time hitting left-handed pitching?

Berkman, becuase Bagwell had alot of inconsistent hitting, at some points, but Berkman is still an underrated hitter, hitting 40+ home runs last year, but nobody noticing.

As for the Petite, Clemens deal, it surprised me that Petitie went to the Yankees, but it didnt surprise me when Clemens signed with the Yankees, because one of the prime reason he came to the Astros, was becuase it was his home town, and Petite had moved there. Also the NL batters are almost hittable compared to the AL which is another reason Clemens came because the batters were easier to strike out. I respect Clemens, and everything, but I just thinck he did it for the money, and will have a hard time adapting to the AL hitters

Can someone rate my fantasy team and tell me what changes can be made?

How about the front page of the sports section in the Chronicle on Monday? Big, bold letters "HE'S OUT" with a picture of Clemens in an Astros uniform seemingly waving good bye. I'm pretty sure that lends itself to Houston caring. Personally, I think it's hilarious. Astro fans are so fair weather and melodramatic. Rocket betrayed us, boo hoo, but we really don't care he left. Let's see how many seats get filled in Minute Maid as the stros continue to wallow in mediocrity the rest of the season.
