Philly's wage tax is one reason, the crime is another, and so are the crazed fans (even though we exist on both sides of the river).I live in South Jersey and I'm closer to Center City than most of the population that actually lives within the city's borders, let alone in DelCo. There are plenty of nice neighborhoods, nice restaurants, and bars. Here people have land and grass.
You also have to recognize that most athletes, to be honest, aren't inner-city people. They've grown up in suburbia or even more rural areas. Generally people like that don't want to live among the hustle and bustle of a city.
