Should small market teams be own by corporations?

Yes to the first part. Just touch first base before the runner and he is out. You can do this at the other bases ONLY if the runner is forced to run.
Examples: Runners on first and second, batters hits to 3rd baseman. 3rd baseman can touch base - runner is out. But if no runner on first and runner on 2nd tries for third - third baseman HAS to tag runner

Streaming Baseball games?

yes. you can do it at second and third only if it is a force out, meaning the lead runner has to go to that base in order for the other runner to reach their base. so, if there is a runner on first and the batter hits the ball in the infield, the runner on first has to run to second and is the defensive player touches the base with possetion of the ball then that runner is out. if the runner on first is trying to steal second base, he must be tagged with the ball for him to be out.

In baseball- what does "walk off" mean... as in "walk off" home run?

Force play at first; yes
2nd and third; only if the runner is FORCED to advance by runners behind him.

Topps Baseaball Card?

Yes, its a force out. When the runner has nowhere else to run. You hit, and you have to got to 1st. If you're on 1st, and someone hits, then you have to run to 2nd to leave 1st open for the runner.

Which Toronto Blue Jays manager was fired for lying about his military exploits?

When the ball is hit and the runner heads to first, the first baseman only has to touch the base and the runner is out. If the runner tries to steal second, the second baseman (or player covering second base) has to tag the runner for him to be out. IF there is already a runner on first base and the batter hits a ball, then the runner on first has to go to second and then the player only has to touch the base because it's a "force out" meaning he had to run because the batter needed to go to first base.

Is Manny Ramirez Clutch?

yes... the ball must be in the opposing teams hand at the same time they touch first before the runner gets there. This is called a forced out. This applies to all bases if the runner must advance due to another runner on the base behind him. Now, lets say a runner is on second and there is no runner on first... should the runner try and advance to third by stealing the base or running once the ball has been hit the opposing team would have to tag him with the ball.

How many Yankee / Baseball games have you been to?

Yeah, this happens when the runner has to advance to the next base. At first you don't have to tag him because he has to go to first base and establish himself there before he is a baserunner, that's a force out. Force out's happen at any base when the runner must advance to the next base. But if there is a runner say on 2nd with no one on 1st, if you wanted to get the guy on 2nd out you would have to tag him.

Who is the heaviest player in Major League Baseball?

yes you can at first and at second and third even home but it must be a force out

What is considered the "basepath" from first to second"? How much leeway does a runner have to avoid a tag?

Yes, all you have to do is touch the first base bag with any part of you're body. You can not tag a person out on any other plate just by touching the plate.

Baseball stat question?

Yes, if it is a force play. That is the same at every base.

Pitching question?

Outs recorded at first base are generaly of the batter-runner, and they are always force outs. However, if the runner is retreating back to the bag, he must be tagged out.

At all other bases, either applies, depending on the situation.

In a force play, the bag may be tagged. A force play simply means that the runner is forced to move up to the next base by the runner or batter-runner behind him.

In a tag play, the runner must be tagged by the defending player, and the defending player must use the hand in which the ball is held to apply the tag. A tag play is anyone attempting to steal, to move up on a wild pitch or passed ball, or anyone attempting, for example, to go from 1st to 3rd on a single.

If a closer enters the 9th with a 4 run lead and gives up 1 run before he wins is it ruled a save?

There are a few ways for a runner to get out while on the bases, but the basic two ways are by being tagged out, or by a force out. A tag out is just what it sounds like. You touch the runner w/ the ball, or your mitt so long as the ball is in the mitt, while the runner is not also touching a base, and the runner is out.

A force out does not require you to tough the runner in any way. Basically, when the batter hits the ball in fair territory and it is not first caught by a player (aka a fly out or line out), the batter is "forced" to run to first base. In addition to this, a runner on first base is "forced" off his base by the batter, and is "forced" to run at least to second. So if you can have the ball and touch the base before that runner gets there, it is a force out and the runner is out. Now, if the runner goes past second, he is no longer being forced to do so and you have to tag the runner, rather than the bag. Now, if the runner was on second, but there is nobody on first, first base is "open" for the batter to advance to, so the runner on second is not "forced" off his bag.

To determine if there is a force play, think of it like dominos. If the batter has to go to first, anyone on first has to go to second, and any runner who had been on second has to go to third. But if there is a gap in your dominos, the runner after the gap doesn't get forced forward. So if you have a runner on third and a runner on second and the batter hits a ground ball, the guy on first is forced to second by the batter, but the guy on third can stay put because second is "open" for the guy behind him, thus he isn't being forced forward.

I don't know if that made sense, but I tried.

Oh, and while with a tag out you must tag the runner, a force out is an either/or situation: you can either tag the bag, or you can tag the runner.
