i think thats the silliest question ive read all day, even worse than some person asking whether Ray Lewis or Joey Porter would win in a fight. thats an absolutely absurd trade for the yankees and the phillies and heres why. the yankees already have a pretty good 1B in Jason Giambi(i know hes on steroids, but then again, so are half of the players in the league) and they would lose a stud 3B in Alex Rodriguez. now for the phillies. they would lose their stud 1B in Ryan Howard for a 3B when the one they have(Wes Helms i believe) is decent anyway. so what would u do to fill all of those gaps. thats right nothingWhat team has the weirdest fans?
I do not think that would benefit either team in the slightest. heres why:The yankees have 3 firstbasemen, Doug mentkiewicz, Jason Giambi and josh phelps. They are paying at least 10 million to giambi, and probably another million to the other 2. For them to pay that much to hold on to 4 first basemen would be absurd- even for the yankees.
Next, A-rod has the biggest contract in baseball, roughly 22 million a year. The phillies payroll is roughly 88 million. For the phillies to take on such an immense salary would not be possible.
Finally, the Phillies don't need a thirdbasemen! They have the defensive specialist Abraham Nunez, the bat wes helms, and greg something.
O and Bud Selig would probably block it
or AROD would probably use his no trade clause.
