the phillies are doing badly for 2 reasons.
1: the phillies top hitters are not pulling through. howard is slumping and has only 1 homer this season. he is not making great contact either. utley is not so ot either. he is hitting low .200's and has the same homer and rbi stats as howard.
2: the phillies bullpen is not great at all. the starters go dep into games and have decent leads such as 4-1. the bullpen has screwed up these leads many times already. thats why they are doing poorly. dont worry though cause utley and howard are both hot weather players so it will all be fine.

am a phillies fan too.but the reason is why they are doing soooo bad is their bullpen.their bullpen have let them down so many times this season.they get solid pitching from the starters but the bullpen cant hold on to the lead.take that game they played vs.the mets.the starter of the phillies pitched very well (for 7 innings and left the game with the lead but when the bullpen came in they blew it.also that ryan howard has been struggling.once ryan howard starts swinging the bat and the bullpen starts perfoming the way they,re supposed to,then the phillies can start winning games.
