Question:I've been curious why managers never have their superstars sacrifice with no outs to move men into scoring position if they could win the game. What do you think?

Along with double steals, suicide squeeze,etc.The managers are always hoping for that big inning but they sometimes forget that you only have to win by 1.

It would depend on how the infield is positioned. When ARod is at bat, the 3rd basemen is usually hugging the third base line and playing off the bag. If ARod could drop a bunt down the 3rd baseline far enough from the catcher so the 3rd basemen would have to make the play, chances are the runners will move safely.Then again, why have AROD bunt when this year he is hitting .311 with 6 hrs with runners in scoring position. He's also batting .450 with 6 hrs and 19 rbi's with runners in scoring postion and 2 outs. swing away!
While it completely depends on the complete situation (are the Yankees at home or on the road? What does the game mean? Is he in a slump?), Id most likely have Rodriguez swing away. True winning by one run is the same as winning by 20, but there is no guarantee that the next 2 hitters will be any more successful at bringing those runs in. You dont take the bat away from one of the best hitters on your team.
Another thing to consider is when was the last time Rodriguez bunted against live (non batting practice) pitching? I dont know the answer to that question, but most 3-4-5 hitters arent asked to bunt very often so they forget how to do it and usually end up popping the ball up in a way that cannot advance the runner.

First your question is flawed because the man on second is in scoring position. Secondly, Arod, even as bad as everyone rode him last year, still lead the yankees in batting average when runners were in scoring postion. First and second no outs, yankees have three chances to single in the winning run becuase its jeter would be on second. There are many factors that need to be considered here, first off who is in the on deck circle? Who is pitching? Who are the players on first and second? Can these players steal? Why sacrifice if you can advance through stealing? If Jeter and Damon are on. they can steal. If Posada and Giambi are on... well... er..um... Also, you summize by saying "getting into scoring position" the runner on second is already in scoring position. So, no, a bunt would not be in order. Besides if A-Rod buunts down the third base line there is a good possibility that you would get the runner out a third and defeat the purpose of buntung.Again, I would have A-Rod swing. It only makes sense to let A-Rod swing away. He's the best and most feared hitter in baseball. Although in that situation, bunting the runners over gives you a better chance to win, that's only the case if the batter is not that good of a hitter or is struggling at the plate such as Abreu. But you don't give the opposing team an automatic out when it's one of your best players. You already have the winning run in scoring position and my guess is managers would probably elect to intentionally walk A-Rod anyway, regardless of the next batter. Though that would load the bases, sometimes you gotta take your chances. Being as great as he is, he's likely to come through with a hit or home run. Although the Yankees have a tremendous lineup, I think I'd rather pitch to anyone else but A-Rod.

Infield is playing deep and a good bunt probably also turns into a base hit with A-Rods speed but even if he is out at first the winning run is 90 feet from home with only 1 out so I would say that I would have him bunt.
