Can anyone tell me who the Marlins closer is going to be?
The current low is .292 by Juan Pierre in 2006, eclipsing the previous "record" of .295 by Jo-Jo Moore of the 1935 New York Giants. Why do baseball teams keep building new stadiums when they have a fine stadium already?
Wow. Good job Stephen. I looked everywhere.Least amount of pitches throwin in one inning?
Juan Pierre seems to have that record, posting a .292 in 699 ABs.You can perform searches like this at the Baseball Reference PI, though non-subcribers get a chunk of the report cut off.
Who else is mad about the yankees losing?
Juan Pierre had 204 last season and batted .292According to his wiki page he is only the second player ever to bat under .300 and have 200 hits, the other being Buddy Bell in 1979 who had 200 hits on the nose and a .299 avg.
Like you said though, Lou Brock did 206 in 1967 w/ a .299 avg and so did Matty Alou w/ 201 hits and .297 avg (although oddly enough, the year before he had 231 hits and a .331 avg).
I'm having trouble determing who all has done it, but based on how much worse (statistically speaking) Pierre's avg was, I'd guess he has the record.
