Should Jesse Jackson have any right to tell the atlanta GM how to do his job?
Question:jesse jackson attacked the atlanta gm because he didn't have enough african-america players in his roster. isn't the gms job to get players that would help him win not get them to be politicaly correct. i think jesse jackson is focusing in the wrong problem the problem is not enough african-americans play baseball.when jackie robinson broke the color line he wanted minority of all races to have an oppurtunity, not just handed a job. I think MLB has done o.k in what jackie robinson was trying to do because they brought minoritys from latin america, japan, china, even canda.

No he should not.Why is it we never hear about the lack of white players in basketball or football? It's only about lack of black players, or coaches, etc.
The reason there are not as many blacks in baseball is because they are gravitating towards basketball and football. There just doesn't appear to be any interest in the younger people to play baseball. It's no ones fault. It's just the way it is.
Seriously, does anyone really think a manager or GM would not want a black player if he could help them win? Does any one really think that they are saying, "Take the white guy, or the hispanic guy instead?"
IT's not racism, it's just kids aren't getting in to the game as they once were. Big deal.

Jesse Jackson is a racist and a hypocrite. He makes a living preaching hatred toward anyone who isn't black. Check his track record and you will see that he loves to attack the establishment every chance he gets. Of course he should have the right. And the Atlanta GM should have the right to ignore what Jesse Jackson says.Of course, if Atlanta's fans agree with Jackson, then the GM will eventually have to follow the advice, but I doubt you have to worry about that.
[P.S. - the article says that local Atlanta members of PUSH (Jackson's org.) complained and met with the GM, but Jackson is not quoted at having said a thing about it, or being involved at all.]
