What kind of action in a baseball game will get a retaliative action from the rival team?
Question:1. Hit by pitch?
2. Winning the game yet still bunt?
Answers:
If a runner on second is tipping the catchers signs to the hitter, the pitcher will throw at the hitter.
If a catcher thinks a player is peaking back to see where the catcher is setting up, he will give a sign for his pitcher to throw at the batter.
If a player steals bases or stretches a double into a triple in a blowout, (not just a lead, but a blowout) sometimes there will be retaliation.
If a team feels they are being "shown up" by too much celebrating or inappropriate body language they sometimes get pissed.
The most common though is something like this scenario:
-A batter is crowding the plate
-The pitcher throws inside to "brush him back" but actually hits the batter
-The opposing team retaliates by hitting a batter sometime later in the game...
-There is a retaliation to the retaliation later in the game or even in another game later in the series or season...

#1 Hit by pitch. What team will A-Rod be playing for next season?
Being a Yankee fan I've seen it all from the Boston-NY rivalry... it's mainly hit by pitch but can also be chin music, trash talking, a gesture from the bench, just about anything can set a person off in those type of situations... it's sad really...I'm looking for a team to root for in the AL. Anything to propose?

The hit by pitchWhat is the best way to get my 7 yr old daughter quicker at batting in softball?
Hit by pitch is the biggest reason.2 will get a reaction as well though if it's a blowout (like a 10-run lead), but that won't usually start brawls like a good beaning would.
What can the Cincinnati Reds do to fix their bullpen?
Bunting is a lost art in baseball. As such, virtually NO ONE bunts, even in bunting situations; so, you won't see a team showing up the other team with a bunt. And I don't think ANY act of "showing up" the other results in retaliation, per se. Sure, it can cause some "bad blood," but how do you retaliate for a guy stealing a base when his team is up by 8 runs? The real retaliation comes from doing something to hurt someone on the other team. You can pretty much guess the types of acts we're talking about:
1. Their pitcher hits your batter, you retaliate.
2. A guy goes in hard at second base, and hurts your player, someone is going to pay!
3. A cheap shot collision at home plate
And so on.
How fast should my change up be?
EZ hit by pitch by far.How long would you keep Felix Hernandez out?
A batter getting hit is likely to lead to retaliation. Some others:
* Not letting up when you have a big lead. Stealing especially, but taking the extra base, being a little too aggressive on the basepaths, etc.
* Cheap shots (coming in with spikes high, taking out the 2B/SS on a double play a little too hard, running the catcher, etc.)
* Trash talking or showing up the losing team. There's lots of trash talk out there, but when you're winning it's time to shut up and let the other team leave with a little dignity intact.
More than anything else, the score dictates what is OK and when. In a one run game, almost everything short of attempting to hurt a player is OK.
