For the RedSox Nation. Are u guys ready to kick the Yankees asses!?
it depends on the situation...if there is nobody on...the 2nd baseman would most likely cover first...same with runner on first, and shortstop would cover second...the catcher would most likely never cover first on a fly ball...there would be no point in that...and the catcher has to run up the first base line on a ground ball to the infield if there is nobody on or a runner on first base...that is so that there is a possibility of stopping the overthrow by the infield of soaring into the dugout. So far josh hamilton has 5 hrs for the Reds- how many he will have at seasons end?
The pitcher would cover first on the fly and the catcher always runs to first to back up first on a grounder in case the throw gets by first.Did the Major Leagues ever allow metal bats, and if so, what year were they banned?
2B covers 1ST.SS goes to 2B.
And the reason a catcher runs down the first base line on a ball hit in the in field is because he has to get the ball quick if their is a wild throw to first base so the runner can't go to 2B.
Does anyone know Mitch Williams(the baseball player) address?
Many people can cover many positions like like the 2nd baseman can cover first if they need to sometimes it's the catcher sometimes it's the catcher it depends on who can get there the fastest. The answer before mine is pretty good. I would add that the pitcher would cover 1st if the fly ball were in shallow RF and the 2nd basemen was also in pursuit of the fly ball.
