ESPN2 good idea?

Question:Did ESPN really have a great idea broadcasting the 2007 MLB draft?

Answers:

Where is John Rocker now?

They thought it might be like the NFL draft, with same draft day decisions, and where you can see where your team is heading in the future but I mean something like this is really up in the air. I know I am going to watch at least the 1st round to see where some of my friends from Rice are going and see how this works out, but the main difference is that you have to go through 3-5 years to actually see these guys play, and you might never see them play so I do not think it is a great idea. Maybe they could broadcast it on a smaller station, but not a Nationally televised event.

Who was better in their prime Babe Ruth or Willie Mays?

No way! Baseball is a sport where the players are taken through stage upon stage of building between being drafted and playing in the big leagues. The only reason the NFL Draft is a hit is because it is much more of an instant gratification. The MLB draft will be much less instant and much more boring. Bad Idea!

Is this unsportsmanlike behavior.?

There's no chance for an MLB draft to compete with the NFL or NBA drafts. A few of the more die hard fans may watch, but I doubt a lot will. I love football and can't stand to watch the entire NFL draft. These are players I've heard of because I watch college football every year. The baseball draft would consist of players no one has ever heard about, with some rare exceptions. It'll be nice to have more info about what your team is doing with their draft, but it still doesn't tell you a whole lot. Top draft picks in baseball often fail and are never seen in the majors. The NFL and NBA draft lets you see top players that will be getting an immediate chance the next season. I don't need to see the Mets draft some high school kids I don't know and then not hear about them for years until they improve enough to be called up.

Who do you think would buy the chicago cubs?

Yes with that they will show more college baseball which gives people more of an understanding of the player their team has chosen. It will also go fast with 5 min clocks throughout the draft. It won't catch up to football yet but in about 5 years it may overpass at least 1.

Will Don Mattingly replace Joe Torre next year?

Here's the problem TV stations and broadcasting co's have.

They're on 24 hrs a day, an there's only so much goingon. So, they have to fill the time with something! Ther MBL draft was something that woul take a few hours, so on the air it went.
It was a better choice than having the 35th analysist this the week do another spot on why Ryan Howard is getting off to a slow start or what the Royals have to do to win their division.
