How to get a lot of points on MLB 07 the show?

Question:I have a first baseman and a closing pitcher. It was really easy to get points for the closing pitcher but my first baseman strugles to get points and his ability is low so how can I get easy points to improve his skills

I've been a 1st Baseman in all of my careers and I've found the best way to get 100 pts a game is to hit a home run.
Also, do whatever you can to get all of the Manager's goals that pop up throughout the game because those will give you good ability points.
If your 1B is young and not very good yet stay within yourself, swing at pitches you've guessed correctly, and ditch the power swing until you're in the bigs
