Have we overlooked something in the Barry Bonds case?
Question:Here's my point. Has BALCO stumbled across an anabolic cycling through an athlete that may prove to be beneficial to society (cancer patients, AIDS patients, etc.) that a steroid-type substance without side effects over long term usage has been developed? I am an ATC and have pondering this recently. Please no remarks about the record -- just think about the question.

I don't know much about steroids, but my guess would be that a cancer or AIDS patient couldn't handle the stuff he was putting in his body. There were supposedly steroids not even intended for humans mixed up in there. If that is the case though, I'm sure it's being looked into. They do say that medically speaking HGH is a miracle drug. There is a ton of potential, but I imagine (in my totally uneducated opinion) that it would be too much for someone who's system was so broken down.Come on people, this question isn't at all about his baseball credibility. There are plenty of forums to whine about it's baseball relevance.
Who is the most underrated player in the MLB this season? Overrated?
Don't even try to tie Bonds and HGH into something good. Ponder that somewhere else. Bonds is a cheat and hated for a good reason.Baseball question, Who gets the win?
First Bonds never tested positive. So the "case" is hearsay basically. Second Bonds, IF using, WASN'T using to test for GOOD causes. IF Bonds was using it was for PERSONAL gain. The Question would be are we overlooking something in BALCO, not in Bonds. What do you think the 5 classic Baseball cites are?
i dont know much about steroids or what they can be used for, but i do think that there has to be some way that they can be found useful to society as a whole. i remember one time when i was sick i was given steroids and it fixed the problem...so i would say yes. Will the Cubs make it to the playoffs and how will they do it?
Well, it would be tough to determine as of yet...i mean Bonds did sit out some considerable time after the whole scandal blew up with knee injuries and the likes, so I dont think its safe to say there are NO side effects, and I think it will take a little more time to see what Bonds' health does to claim it as side effect free and healthy...but other guys as well, Giambi, etc., also admitted to use and have bounced back with good stats, so maybe your right, but BALCO definately wasnt doing this research to benefit anyone but themselves. How much interest is there in a 16mm movie of the 1948 World Series?
I agree with you, Dr. J. Bonds is just a cheater and there is NOTHING good about anything coming from his case.Is Barry Bonds guilty before even being found guilty? and why is he taking the fall for everyone ?
First of all, what's an ATC?Second, sure, anabolic steroids have legitimate uses. But I haven't heard of any information suggesting that BALCO has developed anything that would have fewer side effects than steroids which are already in use. Their drugs ARE steroid-type drugs and act by the same mechanism as testosterone and related chemicals. The only difference is that BALCOs made modifications which were not routinely tested for.
The standard way of testing for drugs relies on knowing what, exactly, you are looking for. Blood plasma or urine is run though a gas-chromatigraph/mass spectrophotometer and the results are run through a program that looks for specific profiles which are made by the drugs on the test list.
Once they have a profile for a new derivitive of testosterone, they just add it to the profile list and can test for it, too.

What is your best baseball game experience?
Yes we've completely overlooked the fact that the homeruns he hit were a direct result of HGH, and he is still in the record books.More Questions & Answers...
