automatic ball is when the pitcher commits a violation with no runners on base...usually putting his hand to his mouth while on the pitching dirt...when this occurs a ball is automatically added to the count with the current batter.

Pitchout. When the pitcher thinks a baserunner might be stealing he will throw a pitch usually high and away. The catcher knows this and will be prepared for it. This way when the catcher catches the ball he is already standing and in a better position to throw the baserunner out. This pitch will almost always be a ball...but it will allow a greater chance to throw the baserunner out

When there is a pitchout, the pitcher purposely pitches out of the strike zone because he thinks that the baserunner is going to try to steal. The pitch also makes it easier for the catcher to make a good throw to second.
