At this rate, yes, I could see 'em hittin' 100 years without a championship easily. It seems they always put together a pretty good club...BUT, they always lack chemistry.

They don't have the best team on paper in their division. I think that actually goes to the Cards or the Brewers, as both teams are far more balanced. Most expensive team, yes. But look at what you really have.Barrett - replacable anytime, basically a non-factor.
Lee - possible one year wonder.
Theriot - who?
DeRossa - average two-bagger
Izturis - subpar hitter who has a good glove
Ramirez - one of the few guys I think you can count on as decently consistent, but still not a GREAT player.
Floyd - I like this guy too.
Soriano - despite his D (which isn't as bad as people make it out to be), I think he is one of the top 5 best players in baseball.
Jones - overhyped supposed power hitter who has never really lived up to potential.
The bullpen doesn't have any standouts really, so while not necessarily a hindrance, doesn't really make it a standout factor.
The rotation in theory could be solid, but two of your workhorses are basically to the point now where it doens't look like getting injured is a fluke, but rather their bodies can't handle the strain they take. Zambrano is a stud, Lilly is above average, Marquis is your typical middle of the rotation guy, and while Hill has a great curve, it's too early to say how it's really going to workout for him as a starter (hence his #4 spot in the rotation).
Basically, they have a few above average players, a few maybe, and a ton of average and subpar.
Now, will they get to 100 years w/out a series? You betcha! It's not that they are cursed though, it's simply that they aren't putting together a good enough team.

sorry, but i think so. i think there is something going on there if soriano, and d-lee cant homer and if their money seems to be going to waste. i dont even see them winning the division this year, nevermind the world series.Honestly, I don't think there's any question that they will. Offensively, they are the most talented team in the NL Central, but unless something changes drastically, I don't see their pitching holding up.

Unfortunately, I strongly believe that the Cubbies will never field a World Series Championship team. I don't know why, I just have been watching (and loving) them since I was small and even when they had play-off bound teams something always derailed them. I don't believe in curses and such, but I do believe that there is definitely and overwhelming amount of negativity in and around the Cubs' organization. Maybe Mark Cuban can change that with more money thrown their way, I really don't know. The first thing I do every morning is check their box score and read any and everything I can on them. Not only that, but I'm pretty sure they'll reach at least 115-120 without a world series. On paper means nothing. Remember when the Mets signed Mo Vaughn, Roberto Alomar and Jeromy Burnitz? They were the best team on paper too and look how that turned out. The Cubs are screwed.Not sure but the 97 years the Philadelphia Phillies went without a their first title will probably be the longest in sports.
