The Northsiders vs. the Southsiders in the Windy City of Chicago--no doubt about it! It's not quite like playing the Cardinals, but it's as good as it gets in the interleague games.

The problem with interleague play is there really are only a few natural rivalries that can be played up. Cubs/Sox, Mets/Yankees, A's/Giants, Dodgers/Angels, Reds/Indians, and Orioles/Phillies (the Nats don't count because they're terrible). The rest of interleague play I can do without. Pirates/Royals games are attended only by total diehards. The other night at the Mets/Cubs game--the one with more rain delays than baseball--the Mets thanked their fans by giving anybody who stuck it out a free ticket to one of the games against the Twins--your choice. The Twins are one of the better teams in baseball, with last year's MVP, but the Mets' management assumes (correctly I might add) that there is no way tickets for that series are going to sell.

Which is the more successful baseball franchise, the oakland athletics, or the sf giants, and why?

The World Series, though it sucks when it's over because then there's no baseball for months.

Yankees v. Mets. 2nd biggest rivalry in baseball. Since the Mets are the best in the national league, and the yanks are USUALLY the best in the AL, it makes for competative baseball. Now it is fun because we get to see the Yankees get their azzes served to 'em!
