Question:Was he worth it??
With how much he costed will he become a great pitcher for the redsox in the end

Answers:

"In the park HRs" and "out the park HRs"?

It is way to early to tell if has is worth the money but I am going to say he will be worth it. In his first year already he is showing some very impressive stuff and he is still getting used toa different game. Baseball here is different than baseball in Japan. The only struggles he has had so fsr is when he has to pitch from the stretch which is new for him but if you saw his game last night he has been working on it and looked great last night. He threw 7 complete innings, 8 K and only 1 earned run, pretty good. Look at his stats for the year and he is 5 in the league in strikeouts with 48, he is 4-2 and the only reason he has 2 loses is because the Red Sox only scored a total of 1 run between his two loses. Hehas won his last three decisions, and he could easily be 6-0 if he got some more run support in his loses. Also, just watch him pitch, he has some nasty pitches, his breaking ball has a snap on it that is going to get a lot of people, he has his changeup that has such movement people think it is the gyroball. Dice K will be well worth the money just give him a chance.

Who do ya'll think is the most underrated reliever in baseball today?

No way was Matsuzaka going to dominant from pitch 1. He has to adjust to new ballparks, better hitters, new catchers, new culture, language, language, team mates, culture and language, new umpires and strike zones.

The Red Sox gave him a 6yr contract not to be great today, but to help win today, and be great tomorrow.

Look at Josh Beckett, he struggled year 1, now year two..

Matsuzaka isn't even pitching well, he is struggling mechanically with his delivery.
But he is 4-2. So maybe he isn't that bad.

Also remember ever batter in that box knows everything about Matsuzaka, he knows nothing about them. Once he learns the game, the hitters, their strengths etc etc, he will be great.

You can just watch him, his presence, his range of delivery, 6+ different piches.. he will be pretty good

And at 103million, 6 years, is still cheaper than Zito.

Yes, he is worth it, but you don't judge a 6yr contract after 6 starts, or even 3years, its over the life of the contract.

He doesn't quite have his control set, thats what has been hurting him, but he is the real deal

And yes, while he isn't an ace today, he will be, and will be worth it.
