Do you believe Shillings "Red Sock" was a hoax?
Question:http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=re...
As a Red Sox fan I don't believe it but would like more perspective on this issue.
Answers:
You Yankee fans going to give up up to us RedSox?
The way I see it, if Schilling had an injury serious enough that he would be bleeding as a result, I doubt that the team doctor would have let him pitch game 6 of the ALCS in 2004. I was at that game and I didn't see Schilling in any great stress. His pitching motion was normal and he walked without any kind of limp. You have to remember, Schilling loves to be in the limelight so having a fake bloody sock would be something right up his alley. At any rate, it makes for a good story in the paper.
red sox suck *
What is Better for baseball a lot of offense or great pitching?
I don't believe it was a hoax, and even if it was it wasn't game 6.It would have been the game in the World Series. If Ichiro Suzuki leaves Seattle, where will he go?
Now Way! Why would Schilling do something like that. Don't they have the World Series Socks in the Hall of Fame? Just have a DNA test on those. I believe this came from broadcaster Garry Thorne. This dude was just trying to get attention. What a **** dick. Why would it have been a hoax? OK, I didn't follow the link you left but I do recall the game and it was clear Schilling was hurting during the whole game effort.
it really shouldn't matter.go soxs!!!!!!
What is a pop out in baseball?
He's a gamer... It was blood, no hoax. It was a great performance, and he went on to miss the start of the next season because of it. Baltimore sources bring this story up after Schilling and the boys beat the O's 6-1. Funny isn't it.Only his doctor knows, and he's bound by doctor - patient confidentiality.
A DNA test won't help if it was Schilling's blood, because it wouldn't show how the blood got there.
What is the MLB team record for consecutive games with a double?
I think that it was really blood. Pitchers are so focused on the day they are pitching, and they zone in on the day's matchups. Why would Schilling go through the trouble of putting ketsup or paint or whatever on his sock. Wouldn't you think that it would be really uncomfortable to pitch with paint on your sock. Plus that game had enough storylines as it is, Game 6 of the ALCS with the Yankees and the Redsox, after having surgery in his leg. Nope, no way it was a hoax.Who holds the record for most in the park homeruns in one game?
there is alot of things you can call shilling.and most of it is probably true, but he would never do this. he is too smart to do something like this. he had nothing to gain from a "fake blood sock"besides paint doesnt look like that on cloathing. you cant fade certain parts and paint cant dry like blood. either way it was blood on that sock whether it was his or pre-bloodened.
doug mirabelli is the one twisiting truths and lied. the sports writer also has nothing to gain from lying what mirabelli said.
its dumb little stories like this that ruin sports talk shows. today was another 3 hours of my life of bloody sock talk that i will never get back again.
Do you have more than one team that you cheer for?
It was a total hoax! Rabid Red Sox fans will believe anything about their beloved team, and this fit into their mythology perfectly. You were all played! And by Shilling the tool, no less. The only thing worse would have been for him to claim he was attacked by a "green monster" which bloodied his "red sock."
How embarrassing!
#1 vs #2 FSU vs UNC who u got to win the series?
i agree it was blood. are some of you telling me that byron leftwich and mcnabb can play on broken legs but shilling cant play with ligaments stitched up to his skin before the game starts?Do you think that the Alanta Braves will make it into the playoffs?
of course not.when i first heard it this morning i thought that it was so stupid and ignorant to say such a thing.the orioles reporter said that doug mirabelli said that it was paint.but later when doug mirabelli was asked he said that he didnt say such a thing.first of all if u look closely to the pictures of the bloody sock you,ll notice that the blood on the sock looks natural and real and it doesnt look anything like paint.and why would curt schilling do something as ridiculous as putting paint on his own sock to trick people that its blood.he probably never even knew that when people noticed the blood on the sock that it would as a big of a deal as it turned out to be.its stupid that schilling will sit around and think of an idea as ridiculous as painting his sock. i dnt think it was a hoax. GO REDSOX!!!!!It was no hoax. One way to find out. The sock in question is in the hall of fame. Look at the bloody part, if it's still bright red, it's probably paint, if it's become more like a rust stain, then it's probably blood.
