Does the Braves' Matt Diaz deny his heritage?
Question:I'm watching the game and they keep pronouncing his last name differently. So I Wikipediad him and it says:
"He endorses the Americanized pronunciation of his surname as DYE-az, rather than the more common Latin accented DEE-az"

All I know is Vin Scully tells the story whenever the Dodgers play the Braves that the "Die-ez" pronunciation is because his family is from Spain and that's how it was pronounced over there. I'm assuming Scully got his info from press relations of MLB or PR from the Braves that keeps track of biographical info.
