Why allow Bonds to even break the record?

Question:If so many people are against Barry Bonds breaking the home-run record (including myself, fans, and actual players), why would a team even pitch to him? It's not like the batting order is so dangerous that you can't afford to put Bonds on first and pitch to others. And I'm not talking about waisting the energy to throw 4 consecutive balls. I'm talking about drilling him every time he steps in the batters box. Kerry Wood and Mark Prior did it to him a few years ago on back to back games where the beamed him every time up. Why pitch to this disgrace? Don't even let him swing the bat, just put it in his side, and a respectable Hank Aaron will remain the HomeRun Champion.

Is MLB.TV experiencing technical difficulties?

Good motivation, I don't want him to break Hank Aaron's record; that man dealt with a lot of hate before breaking Ruth's record. Both Aaron and Ruth did what they did without the aid of anything else.

The only reason Bonds hasn't been charged with anything is because his buddy fromn Balco won't talk. Watch him be rewarded for his scilence by Bonds.

The other possibility why nothing will happen to him is because MLB wants to bring a black audience back to baseball; this is why a team was sent to D.C. and Selig has made it celar that this is a goal. What better than a black athlete breaking a record?

Whos more likely . .?

I think beaning him every time he comes to the plate would be just as disgraceful as him breaking the record, if not more so.

The problem with this "Steroid Era" is that we still don't know the full extent of who has taken what. Half of MLB could have been taking steroids/HGH the whole time Bonds was for all we know.

Your favorite baseball team?

I admit that I got a pretty good chuckle out of that one. Realistically, after a couple intentional beanings the league would start suspensions and fines.

What is the value of a Mark McGwire Bobblehead?

its history.
you cant change history
besides if he doesnt break this record, theres always the walks record to break

Are the yankees really the most valued team in the world?

So they can place the asterisk next to his name just as they will with McGuire.

I like the suggestion to intentional walk (not bean) Bonds every time he comes to bat but that would ruin the purity of the game. Would someone walk Bonds and ruin a perfect game, for example?

What will D. wrights numbers at the end of the season be?

There is not much we can do to stop him. We can't intentionally walk him every time he is up. Just think what that ball will be worth when he does break the record. Still I am with you , he is so unworthily of the record he is about to set.

Who do you think is the best clutch batter in MLB today?

Barry Bonds has not "oficially" been caught doing Steroids, even though the evidence is staggering. Also many managers don't care about the record, they just want outs, barry included

Baseball card value?

Why don't the league just ban Bonds from playing the MLB then?? Why keep him?? Because he has the ability to lure fans to come watch baseball games wondering if he's going to hit another homerun.
For example: Look at the Kansas City Royals. They can't bring any fans AT HOME. The reaseon is because they don't have any players like Barry Bonds. But if they did, fans will crowd the seats like they do at San Francisco.

What 3 players on the Red Sox are making more monay that their ace Curt Schilling this year?

Because Don Drysdale is gone.

I don't understand any pitcher giving him anything to hit, but drilling that miserable excuse for a man isn't the answer, either.

Do you think the Red Sox will win?

If people kept beaning him every time, eventually fines and suspensions will be handed out. Bonds will have to be pitched to sometime and even the year he walked 232 times giving him only 373 official atbats, he hit 45 homers. So he will still hit the occassional homer, because he already is constantly pitched around but still gets his shot.

And its funny you mention fans. Fans want to see the long ball, players have taken steroids to hit the long ball, the fans are happy. Then the fans come out and say its unfair, it ruins the integrity of the game, the player is fake, blah blah. Yet they still go to the games and cheer when homers are hit.

If Bonds did take steroids (not saying he didn't) he is not the only person in the game. It's funny how when other players test positive and get suspended, the media jumps on them for one day then goes right back to Bonds. When Palmiero tested positive for steroids the media jumped on him for like a month or two then pointed fingers again at Bonds. Juan Rincon and Alex Sanchez tested positive for roids, after a week fingers were pointing at Bonds again.

Whether Bonds breaks this record or not, there will be someone in the future to break it. Records are meant to be broken, doesn't matter who does it, it will happen eventually. So what if its the controversial Bonds, or the overpaid (yet very talented and probably almost worth every penny) Alex Rodriguez, and he will give chase in the near future.

Bonds is one of the greatest players of our time, and should be embraced. So what if he did steroids, many other players have done so. The reason people hate Bonds, in my eyes, is because of how the media portrays him. The media pulls him out as an a-hole, and we fans buy into it. Don't always believe the media, they like to blow things out of proportion.

What is a good offseason workout for baseball at age 13??

I think your idea is even more disgraceful and besides sometimes pitchers/managers can get ejected for doing that.
Also btw. even if Bonds did do steroids (since I think only him and God know forsure) he is still one of the best players in all of mlb without steroids. I mean they have this new testing policy and look at his record even so far this year. 11hrs .300+++ average. People need to take this into consideration when talking about Bonds.

Another btw.

How Many Golden Gloves does JT Snow have?

First of all, your making judgments on events that you and I only know via TV and the paper (i.e. hearsay). Baseball is supposed to be the "thinking man's" sport, yet fans these days let bloggers and TV blowhards do all the thinking for them. He never popped on a steroid test, but in all honesty he probably did do steroids at one time. However, do you honestly think he and Canseco were the only ones? I doubt it. Maybe we should nullify all of the records broken around this supposed steroid golden age. Anyway, in response to your question: records are made to be broken not worshipped. Nothing can take Hank Aarons respect away.
