If you were the Yankees and had a normal budget, what would your team look like?

Question:I am going to restrict this answer to a limit of $75,000,000 payroll. (a bit over the average ML Team Salary)

Who is on the team and what are you paying them?

Right now, they are paying $123 Mil for their starting 9 batters (or $121 mil for 7 of them, Doug M and Robinson C make only $2 mil together)

Let's see a 15-25 man roster with no more than a $75 million dollar budget.

If you have a Red Sox symbol or the name in your ID, you have my permission to do the Red Sox with the same budget.

Good luck.

it would like just as it looks now...that is the NORMAL budget for the Yankees

Can anyone tell me all they know about the Brewers shortstop J.J. Hardy?

They would look very similar to the Yankees of '96-'99 and maybe 2000. A great TEAM with lots of good, not great players, who hit .280-.300, good defensively, who could do all the little things like hit-and-run and swipe a base now and then.

The reason I use use the Yankees of the '90s was because they had players like Brosius, O'Neill, Tino, Tim Raines, Girardi, players who were very good, but not quite superstars. Also, the Yankees had young players who came up through the system like Jeter, Rivera, Pettitte, Posada, Williams, and Mendoza, before they all became free agents and made the big bucks. Fans like to say the Yankees payroll is so inflated by signing free agents, which is partially true. But it originally got high because they signed their own players to big contracts. I think to be successful a team needs to find players to fit a system, and develop their own players.

Mets fans? Have you forgiven...?

It would look just like the 1996 team that won the World Series.
