play a lot of catch, tie the glove shut with a ball in the pocket to break it in, i know people that have put their glove in the oven to break it in. lots of options, you can also buy gloves that are already broken in or "game-ready" as they're called.Do you know where i can get a picture of alex gordon's first major league homerun vs. the blue jays?
I've broken a few mitts as I've progressed in age, and I think you'll find the following the best way to do it. And it's good for the leather. Step 2 and 4 are very important.Step One
Use your glove often. Playing catch is the best way to break in a new baseball glove.
Step Two
Rub the pocket linings of the glove with linseed oil, saddle soap or shaving cream.
Step Three
Let the glove dry on its own if it gets wet - placing it near a heat source or using a hair dryer will cause the leather to crack.
Step Four
Place a baseball in the glove's pocket when the glove is not in use, and wrap a rubber band tightly around the glove; this will gradually give it a catching shape.
Why is it people seem to think beer and baseball go hand in hand?
pee on it and then microwave it.no joke !!What was the greatest baseball season in the last 10 years?
Massage some shaving cream into it, and play as much catch as you can.You want the shaving cream to have lanolin as an ingredient. Gels are not good though, use a foam. Take a very small amount, and put it on a soft, clean cloth. Rub the shaving cream into the glove, being careful to use just enough to lightly coat the glove. Make sure it is rubbed in well, and no globs remain. Dry it overnight.
Make sure the glove is wiped clean. Play a good game of catch to start to form the pocket.
Put a baseball in the pocket and wrap a rubber band tightly around the glove and leave it set for 2 days.
Now, play a good game of catch every day and then do the ball and rubberband thing every night. It actually takes 2 weeks, but if you need it in a week, just make sure you play catch before/after the game (unless you catch a lot during the game) and do the rubberband thing until the two weeks are up.
A lot of people recommend glove oil or some kind of petroleum jelly, but if done improperly, you can ruin a glove. I find this method cheaper and easier to do. Some people also recommend "baking" a glove, or the opposite, soaking it in water. DON'T do either. This is extremely bad for the glove. The petroleum jelly saturates the leather, rather than lubricating it, which is not what you want. While these methods will break in your glove, they have a very detrimental effect to the leather, causing it to break down and fall apart quicker. The shaving cream method works just as well, but has no ill effects long term.
Leather is skin. You just want it lubricated enough to make it pliable enough to from a good fold with your hand and the pocket for the ball. Think about it: is it healthy to have your skin completely saturated with oil, or soaked overnight, or baked in an oven? Well it's not good for leather either.
Hot towel to start...then put it in the oven!

walmart has a can of "foam" for 5.95 .. you lather glove up, heat in oven at 300 degrees for 4 minutes. may take two treatments and whala. broke in glove... worked on my son's wilson perfectly. Why is "Sox" a name in baseball?
Place it in a tub of hot water overnight. (Don't be afraid to get it wet, it works!) Wrap a ball in it if you like. Bunji cord works well for wrapping tight. Take it out, let it dry a bit. Play catch if you can while it's still damp. Let it completely dry then oil at least every day if not twice a day while playing catch or slapping a ball in it vigoursly with your hand.well if u want to break it in in a week there are several ways. u can put it in the microwave for a few minutes to soften it up. u can buy some oil or lotion for it at ur local sporting goods store that sayshot glove treatment or something like that. with that special oil u can put it in the oven for a few minutes. also, try putting lanolin on it and put it in the dryer. the heat and spinning will "beat" and work in the leather. basically heat works in a glove fast. if its not soft enough after one treatment repeat process or try one of the others as well. i should warn u, though, that heat will degrade the leather. it will also cause it to crack and b too dry. it could also damage the integrity of the laces, which means that the laces could snap or break earlier than normally.
