Thursday he only threw 83 pitches, so relief today was not a big deal. He did in fact offer to pitch in relief for Sunday's game. Not only would it benefit the Yankees as a team having a solid relief pitcher with everyone else tired from the weak performances by starters this weekend, it also helps Petitte get back on track.
