Right now, i would say so yes. I hope they sweep the Yankees this week, and send them on a 9 game losing streak. Even tho it's early, i say if that happens, you won't have to worry about NYY being in the playoffs. . . First off, I'm not a fan of Boston, but I would say they are the team to beat in the AL. Followed by Detroit and Oakland due to superb pitching while Boston has the pitching plus a very solid lineup.

No. I hate the Yankees, but regardless of that, the Sox aren't even the team to beat in their division. For the past 5 or so years, at the beginning of the year, pundits and writers have proclaimed the downfall of the Yankees and that the Sox are going to clinch the division. It gets especially bad when the Yankees start out poorly, like they did a year ago. The Yankees defense is better than it was last year, and their offense is as potent as ever. Once the injury bug leaves, their rotation is no worse (at the least) than it was a year ago, so there is no reason to think that a hot start for the Sox and a slow start for the Yankees means Boston is the team to beat in the division, let alone the series.Here's a "bold" prediction: Yankees win the Al East, the Sox win the Wild Card or don't make the post season (you know, like last year).

I hate the Yankees. In fact, I kind of hate the Red Sux too. I would much rather see the Red Sux win though. However, at this point, I think its too early to tell who the team to beat is. Yes, the Red Sox swept the Yankees in Boston last weekend. But if the Yankees sweep Boston in New York this weekend, then you can argue just as much that the Yankees are the team to beat in that division.As for what I hope, I hope both of those teams fall apart and the Blue Jays win the division.

I am pleased with the Sox' pitching so far but i am worried about the offense. They go into these funks where the opposing starter holds them to one run over 7 and the Sox have beat up on poor relief pitching from Yanks and Orioles. They need more production from 7/8/9, and the Lugo/Youkilis 1-2 punch is not scaring any team.YES! Red Sox are on fire!

This Dice K is extremely overrated. If he didn't pitch in Boston and pitched in New York you know for a fact Boston fans would call him overrated...and they'd be right. The teams to beat in the American League, as it will be shown in October---reside in the American League Central. True Boston has a stud closer but they also have after Beckett and Schilling-guys who can be beat-mediocrity, and as I said --Schilling is no sure thing either.Boston fans always tlak trash in April but tend to disappear in October...funny how that works. Now The Redsox and Yankees can disappear together in October.
