well for one, the pitching staff has been a little disappointing besides halladay. but the rotation is good enough to make a run if everyone else lives up to there end of the bargain. BJ Ryan just had his tommy john surgery and will now be sidelined until 2008. thats huge. it looks to me like jeremy accardo has the numbers to be named the official closer in toronto. hes thrown well this year but never had very good stuff before my giants gave him to you. (thanks for vinnie chulk!)and the bats, of course the bats...
they look so good on paper, a lineup full of sluggers. but that also means a lineup full of strikeouts and big heads. homers are great but not necessarily the answer to a championship.
thomas had a lucky year in oakland and is slumping again. he has big 2nd half upside though
glaus is batting well but is always an injury risk. remember he only hit .262 last year so expect a reality check soon there
wells and rios arent quite living up to the hype this spring
overbay and the rest of the infield are poor as well
i imagine the big bats will come around and the team will finish ok again. with halliday and the middle of that order you have to think its possible. just be patient

The only good ones is Roy Halladay and BJ Ryan (DL).
They are just not a good team all around. Even Roy Halliday was POUNDED by the Red Sox last night. They can't get it together this year and will end up in the cellar of their division. Sorry, but I have to call them as I see them.

They have adequate talent -- great batters, a little short of proven starters in slots #3 to 5 (but who isn't), some significant injury problems (but who doesn't) -- so I must conclude that they aren't being handled well -- fire Gibbons NOW! -- JP Ricardi may not be far behind if he keep lying to the media and fans -- there's blood in the water in BlueJayLand, take my word for itGiants or Dodgers tonight? both have good pitching and the Giants are on a roll.?

The B'Jays are not as bad as there record shows. They have the talent. However, they have a lot of injuries. Their closer and setup man are both out for the season, and that can affect the starting pitchers, too. The starter then feels as though he needs to go the distance to get the win, not 6 or 7 innings. The bullpen is in disarray, and now Roy Halladay, their ace, is out for a while. The core is still pretty good, and relatively young outside of Frank Thomas. Another quality starter, a little depth, and a bullpen, and who knows? They may end up being contenders.Y is Ichiro Suzukis first name but not last name on his jersey?
