I think it shouldn't matter everyone of us is human doesn't matter any color. Black, white, green, red, yellow!!Racism aside, I don't understand the concern either.
Major league baseball has had a large influx of Latin American players the past couple of decades, and now they make up nearly 30% of Major League Players. You could say the same thing is happening with Asian Players. It's just a result of globalizing the sport, I suppose. As a result, there's bound to be less Americans in the game, both Caucasian and African-American.
Is Cy Young the best pitcher of all time?
People are concerned because they think the level of competition will go down. Nothing against Asians, Hispanics, or whites dominating baseball but blacks dominate pro sports including football and basketball. And some of the best baseball players ever were black (Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, etc...). Some of the best players today are still black (Barry Bonds, Gary Sheffield, Andruw Jones). So for 7% of the population of pro baseball, blacks still dominate disproportionally to their numbers. Less blacks=less competition and easier for above average players to distinguish themselves as elites from the norm. Will Pete Rose get into the Hall of Fame before or after Barry Bonds? Will Pete Rose ever get in?
Like everything else in sports, this issue comes down to money. Having fewer Black players involved in Baseball means fewer Black fans. This means an entire segment of the population is not donating to the MLB pot.Besides that there is the issue of talent. Yes, there are other things they might be interested in. But a Black kid who is mediocre at, say, basketball, might be a great baseball player but no one will ever know because that kid doesn't want to play baseball. The concern is that Baseball is losing a good pool of athletes and thus making the game worse.
I Won't Watch Or Go To A Baseball Game Until Barry Bonds Is Gone. What about you?
The teams have more latino players and even asian players,so the percentage of blacks and white american players decrease
What about hockey and tennis and racecar driving too? Where are the blacks in those sports? Where are all the white kids on the basketball court or on the football field?
