Can the Cardinals make a comeback this season?
thats how big i was my senior year of hs. i was throwing mid 80's as a lefty. it all depends on how hard you train. you can easily get up around 90 at your size if you put your mind to it. just be smart about training and stop when you start getting too tired. you can injure yourself really easily, thats what i made the mistake of doing.Where is your favorite place to sit at the baseball park ?
I would say given ur height, age, and weight you should be able to throw somewhere between 78-81 mph. If you over that then thats pretty good, if ur below dont worry. When i was 16 i was only throwing 76-79 topping out at 80, in just 1 yr of working out with a trainer (who pitched in the majors and i knew fairly well) i came in the next season (my senior yr of HS) and was throwing 82-84 consistently topping out around 85-86. I then received a scholarship to go play college ball and as i continued to develop i finally hit my peak at about 84-86 consistently and topped out at around 88. After that is a crap story haha but i was in the same position as you, i was ur height and weighed just a little bit less when i was 16. I only grew to 6'0" and 200 (in college, they will work ur *ss off until you get bigger haha) so maybe your potential and ur "ceiling" is higher than mine was. Best of luck.BTW dont listen to the 1st response, MLB scouts do not look at kids who top out at 85 in HS unless they are 14-15 yrs old. College is def. a possibility as long as you pursue it and continue to work.
Why is Alex Rodriguez cooling down?
Same size as me when I was in hs 3 years ago...I was cruising in the low 80s and eventually started to hit upper 80s and hit 90-91 here and there...You should be cruising in the low to mid 80s and maxing out at 87ish...
But as you probably know, anyone can hit a straight ball at 100mph out of the park, so don't trip about speed...work on movement...
Good luck sir
What would happen if barry bonds hit like 50 homers this year? Would people respect him then?
Id say high 70's to low 80's. There are pitchers in MLB who have proven its not all about speed though(i.e. Jamie Moyer, Tom Glavine, Tim Wakefield). He just needs to find what makes him comfortable on the mound and not worry about how fast hes throwing. If hes doing the right excercises then it will al work it self out. Just let him have fun when hes pitching because if he loves the game one day he will look back at the times he [played and remember them forever..Have you ever seen 4 homers in a row? Like the Sox JUST DID??
high 70'sI caught a fly ball from Barry Bonds what should I sale it for?
Your size is meaningless. How fast you can throw is God-given. I imagine Billy Wagner was throwing in the 90's at your age and he would have been about your stature. The key to pitching is understanding your strengths and weaknesses. If you throw in the 60's, you can be an effective pitcher. Velocity is great, but it is maybe the 4th or 5th most important thing in pitching. If you can master the following, you will be effective.1. Hit your spots.
2. Change speeds
3. Use the plate inside to outside, and high to low.
4. Create movement. Your fastball either has a lot of movement or it doesn't. But incorporating breaking balls allows you to create movement.
After all of these, does velocity become important. Good luck to you this year.
Why in MLB do the managers come to the game in uniform?
size doesn't matter. Hit your spots. Although good velocity will help you be successful for a while. Having great velocity doesn't matter too much in MLB because they all can hit a good fastball. In high school, you can kinda get away with 1 or 2 pitches. I would say concentrate on location, keeping the ball down.Best fastball,curveball,slider,change-up,sinker and splitter?
David G has the best answer. Master hitting locations with all your pitches (if you have more than 3 you're wasting time) and getting people out. Scouts look for life on a fastball meaning movement and deception. To be sure they have to write down something in their books on speed but they also look at physical make up, mound presence, etc...there's a whole lotta ex-minor leaguers working desk jobs now that used to throw 90+.Radar is one of those stupid things that has been perpetrated by TV. Ask any professional hitter what he'd rather face: A 90 mph fastball or a 82 mph sinker? 100% of the time the 90mph fastball.
At 16 you need to throw strikes. At 20 you need to throw strikes. At 35 you need to throw strikes. Get the picture?
Who started today's Yankee game?
all depends on mechanics. i fit exactly into that field... before i got lessons from a pro i threw low 70s, now with correct mechanics i'm up in the mid 80s... over the winter!you have potential
