Who pitched the most no hitters?

0.5 games is obviously 'half a game'. If one team doesn't play the same day, or is rained out, etc. they would lose a 'half game' if another team in their division won; or conversely gain a 'half game' if that team(s) lost. Once the schediule is completed most clubs are even in games played, and the 'half game' doesn't factor in.

Daisuke matsuzaka's gyroball to end his career (future)?

It's just a mathematical way to seperate teams. Similar to winning percentage. Right now the Red Sox are 23-10. Baltimore is 17-18 and 7 games back. Easy way is to take the difference in wins(6) plus the difference in losses(8) = 14 and then divide that number by 2=7GB. The last place Blue Jays are 13-21. 10 +11 = 21/2 = 10.5GB.

Who is a better pitcher justin verlander or francisco liriano?

During the season, because teams haven't played the same number of games, it's possible. But the season can't end that way (since whoever has played one game less will be required to play that missing game because it will have an impact on who wins the title).

Who DO U WANT TO WIN THE RED SOX OR YANKEES?

It all depends on how many games the teams have played. For example, if team A had a record of 10-3, and team B had a record of 10-4, team B is 0.5 behind. Team B is one game back in the loss column, but if team A loses their next game, they will be tied. If team A wins, they will be 1 game ahead. So if one team plays an even number of games, and the other plays an odd number, they will be either 0.5 ahead or behind if they have the same number of wins or loses.

Think of it this way: each game involves two teams, so the decision (win or loss) is worth "half a game" for each team.
