Are Piniella and Soriano a bust?
Question:I've been a cubs fan forever, and I had high hopes this year would be the year...whats the deal with these two? Was it worth the money for Soriano and is Piniella washed up?
Answers:
Is Dixie Youth a racist baseball term?
Without a doubt. Pinella retired for a reason. The man doesn't have it anymore. Only the Cubs would entice a has been out of retirement to manage their team into the cellar.Soriano? What the hell do the Cubs want Soriano for? Soriano at second base on any other team makes sense. Soriano in left field (LEFT FIELD!) for the Chicago Cubs is a goddamn punchline.
You know why the Cubs went and got these two? You really want to know? Because their names would look good on the back of a jersey. That's it. The Cubs don't give a damn for one second about winning. They know they don't have to. They know if they go out and get a couple of names the park will be filled everyday with idiots who plunked down 200 bucks for a custom Soriano/Pinella/Garciaparra/Ma... jersey.
It's the same reason they keep trying to run Prior and Wood out there. The organization knows both of those guys are done for and have been for two years at least. But they SELL. Walk into Wrigley and count the Prior jerseys, the Wood jerseys; you'll certainly count more jerseys than innings pitched. Keep the mythology alive, never let the fans forget what COULD have been and the idiot fans will spend every penny they have on Cubbie blue. And you can't say it's not the Cubs fault they get hurt time and again, because it is. The organization advises them to stretch and work out so they will be ready for spring rather than get surgury and be unavailable until June.
It's also why they keep selling the legend of Santo. Santo is an average player at best, but they keep telling the Cub fans they should love him so they keep buying the jerseys, the videos, the autographs. He will never, ever, make the Hall of Fame. They're duping you Cub fans. And you fall for it year after year after year after year.
Soriano will be gone to a contender by August. Pinella will be hamstrung and fed up before that. But next season they will go get some other name to convince the fans that this is the year so they will come out and spend all their money. And the year after that they will do the same thing, and then again, and then again.
Better get a second job Cub fans. That's a lot of jerseys!
You better beleive it. Lou won't do any better than Dusty did. The Cubs just have a horrible organization.
Cubs suck What is this the 98th season without a Ws? Go White sox!!!
Who is the best baseball player in the world right now?
It doesn't matter WHO the Cubs get. They will continue to disappoint year after year. Ted Lilly and Jason Marquis are pitching top-notch for them this year, but Carlos Zambrano is struggling. I would mention Prior/Wood being injured, but that is as much a certainty as the sun coming up in the morning. Soriano has started to pour it on of late, but then DLee gets a stinger in his neck. If it's not one thing it another, as much as it pains me to say that, given the fact that I'm a lifelong Cubbies fan myself. Piniella is not the reason they're struggling, however. He has made only two or three bad decisions this year (one of which leaving Bobby Howry in the game against Philly after giving up a 2-run double to Greg Dobbs. Carlos Ruiz then hit a 2-run homer to cap a 6-run inning. Cubs lost 11-7. Oops.)What do you think of the Barry Bonds homerun record chase?
No, it is too early to jump to conclusions...Lou Piniella is still leading the team to a better record than last year, despite the recent struggles and the mental blow-ups from relievers late in games, and Soriano is playing well despite having an injured hamstring. I like this offensive nucleus (I think Cliff Floyd should play more, and that Jaque Jones should be traded for an arm, or a REAL center fielder) so eventually this team will get it together, and you need to realize that you do not need 90 wins to reach the postseason...so relax, there's still 120 games to goLong baseball pitching question?
Soriano is starting to heat up and the Cubs are in 3rd place. They've already won 2 against the White Sox. As a Cubs fan I'm pretty satisfied that at least we arent in last place.Does anyone know the casino odds for the Yankees to make the playoffs? PLease cite source.?
So are Soriano is definitely a bust. You can't blame Sweet Lou. He's not the one who has to go out and get it done. The point is I never thought from the beginning that Lou should have taken the job. No matter where he goes his fuse is way too short. He should have stayed retired.More Questions & Answers...
