Why does Major League Baseball insist on scheduling so many games in April in cold weather cities?

Question:Why would it be so hard to have the cold weather cities go on the road for the first 10 games of the season to places like LA, SD, Florida, etc? It all evens out in the end anyway and there would probably be less cancelations. Oh yeah, I forgot Bud Selig the dumbest commissioner of all sports is still in charge.

Who will win the NL cy young award?

You answered your own question - there's still an inposter in charge.

There are 14 teams that are designated as warm weather ones, SF, OAK, LAD, LAA, SD, AZ, HOU, TEX, FLA, TB, SEA, MIN, MIL AND TOR (the last 4 because they have domes), and yet the only one of them that opened at home and facied a non warm-weather team was Houston.

Baseball officials will tell you that if a particular team opens at home, it closes on the road. But Cincinnati always opens at home (because they are the oldest professional franchise), and they close at home this year, did so in '04, were originally scheduled to do so in '01, and did so in '98. Four times in 10 years. Kinda puts the lie to that idea, doesn't it.

Why is that certain teams can sign superstars fans don't say anything, but if the Yankees do it they are evil?

I dont know. But everyone is blaming cold weather on Yankee loses this year, but it's plain and simple they are not playing up to the ability. When will they? In September when it's cold again? Hmmmm

Should the Brewers have kept Carlos Lee??

this is a pretty good question, but in april, it usually isnt 30 degrees lmfao.

Giants or Dodgers?

My husband and I are going to see the Red Sox play here in Arlington tomorrow night and they are saying it is suppose to be 39 degrees during the game. I am trying to get out of going but my husband won't let me.

Will the tigers make it back to the fall classic this year?

It's all about money. MLB wants 162 games per season. Start too early and it's still cold, start too late and it's cold at the end of the season.

50 years ago, it was 145 games, and there were no divisional playoffs.

Basketball is even worse. 82 regular season games (and they don't play every day), and 4 rounds of playoffs.

What is babe ruths importiance to the 1920's?

Bud Selig is an idiot! Remember the all star game a few years ago when they called a tie? What fan wants to see a tie?

Whe is it appropriate to cheer "Let's Go (whatever team)" When they are batting or pitching?

because of scheduling, its hard to make up games in a 162 game schedule that runs to october,if they{mlb} changed it baseball would be played at christmas,ok by me!!!

MLB Fans: I'm looking for.?

I agree waht would be wrong with West and South games. By the time this is all over there are going to be so many double headers it won't be funny

Who do you think is the best underrated closer in all of baseball?

Unlike other sports, baseball players play every day. They can't have the south people play and the north people not.

Autograph at yankee stadium?

Because they have 162 games to get in. Because that's when the season starts. Because they're told to. Take your pick.

Who do u think will win the world series?

Because many cold cities is in the north states that millions people lives there as more than South states have because of nation's largest cities. The April is too early to watch who's make the playoff, justly start the baseball game this year. The season can play longer time with 162 games as sometimes has doubleheader games in a day.
Millions of people are wait the NBA and NHL seasons are over then can joins the baseball games in their summer times. Millions of people don't care about the weather and justly want to see their home team to win many games.

Who thinks that the Giants are awesome?

Then, cold weather teams would be playing at home in summer a lot and warm weather teams would be playing away a lot. There is also not much time to play 162 games without some cold games. But this year is ridiculous. It doesn't happen every year like this. Also, this gets to show the TRUE die-hard fans out there instead of people who use their money to buy season tickets and not go b/c of only the weather. At White Sox games last year, the upper deck was the loudest and livliest. Those are the people that care more about their team. Those are die-hard fans. Also, cold weather teams are used to it and it helps the home field advantage.

Best year by a pitcher in history?

Your point is a very good one, but in all fairness, no one expected it to be this cold in so many places in this time of year. The games will eventually be played, so I don't see any harm done.
