In Little League, machine-pitch baseball is the catcher allowed to "talk"?
Question:During our little league machine pitch (7-8 year olds) game tonight our players were faced with a catcher that "chattered" and taunted them constantly while they were at bat. Our coaches were under the impression this was not allowable but the umpire did not make a calling against it when we asked about it.

check the rules. most times it's clearly stated, although it probally is allowed. as a catcher, i never taunted but i talked constatly inbetween pitches. let everyone know the outs, where the play was, let my pitcher know the count, calm him down if he was throwin bad, all that. so check the official rules, each league in every town is probally different. Can the Milwakee Brewers really be the Detroit Tigers of this year?
this is right up my alley, i'm a catcher. when i'm in games, i usually dont taunt the batters, considering theyre standing up and have wooden bats on them. but yea, u can talk crap as long as it doesnt affect the games. then again im 14 and the umpires are more forgiving.but when i was catching in little league u could talk, but not talk crap like the kid ur describing was.
