How to pitch effectively?

Where is the Texas Rangers baseball team located?

Some people think that to be a good pitcher you need to have an overpowering curve ball. This is not true.
Steps

1. Start off every batter the first time around with a fastball low and away. This does several things. One, it shows the batter your speed. This may sound like a bad thing, but wait, it will help you.
2. If they hit the first pitch, it was probably a weak grounder. If not, throw it again.
3. If they hit that last one, it was probably a weak grounder, a solid grounder, or a pop-up. If not, throw a fastball as hard as you can inside and up. This gets the batter, who is leaning across the plate, to back off.
4. After these three pitches early on, you can toy with the batter. Each subsequent at bat after the other team has batted around can be started with a change-up, curve, you name it. If the batter can catch up with your fastball, it will make your off-speed stuff and your curve ball even more effective.

Tips

* NEVER throw a ball down the plate for an easy strike. Which is better, a home run or a walk? In the event of a 3-0 count, think to yourself "I dare you to hit THIS!" Chunk the ball as hard as you bloody can at the bottom-outside corner. If the batter hits it for a base hit, he's the luckiest man alive. If he grounds out, he's good. If he strikes, he's average. If he takes it for a ball and gets first base, he's a wuss.
* Develop a strong curve ball. This will allow you to throw a ball at a batter's head, causing him to duck or fall out. It will then curve into the strike zone, making the batter look like a complete idiot.
* Develop a strong changeup. Throw it inside to opposite-handed hitters and anywhere you want to same-handed hitters. This will tie them up in knots.
* My advice on pitch selection: Throw your curve ball about six times in the first inning. This shows the other team that you have one and, therefore, they will look for it in every pitcher's count for the rest of the game. Don't throw it after the second inning. Use you changeup instead; they will expect a break and end up swinging one or two feet under it.

Warnings

* Beware of throwing a curve ball up in the zone. This will result in a frighteningly high long ball which may leave the atmosphere within two seconds.
* Never throw a change to a batter that can't catch up to your fastball. He will drill it.

Get first pitch strikes, aim low. aiming low will keep your breaking balls from hanging, which can be hit really far.

Will derrek lee be able to bounce back from his injury and have stats like 2005?

Location! Location! Location! In order to be an effective pitcher you have to utilize your "sixth tool".You have to be smart. Every hitter has strengths and weaknesses. You have to pitch to those weaknesses. In order to do so you have to remember those strengths and weaknesses. If you don't have that good of a memory, keep a journal. This is just the tip of the iceberg as far as pitcher's effectiveness but it's a great foundation on which to build your "rep". My son is a AA starting pitcher and he uses his head as much as his arm to dominate batters. Good Luck!
