What does the term, "out of the stretch" mean in baseball?

What is the name of the CBS opening theme song for the 1986 mlb championship and world series?

There are two basic pitching "styles", one is the "wind-up". This is where the pitcher usesa pump motion, and a several "steps" and also a high leg kick prior to delivering the ball to the plate. This is used with no runners on base, or possibly a runner at third only. The reason is, once the pitcher has started his wind, he must deliver the pitch. If a runner is on a base, he could easily steal the next base almost before the catcher has the ball.

The other style is the "set" position. This is where the pitcher "toes the rubber" then brings his hands together in front of his body, "set" for a discernable stop (a second or so), then delivers the pitch to the plate. In the set (with hands together) the pitcher may throw directly to an occupied base, or step backwards off the rubber with his pivot foot and throw. This will keep the runners guessing.

The "set" position is also reffered to as the "stretch" refferring to the stretch motion made when coming set.

How about them Dodgers?

Not pitching from a wind-up
We pitch from the stretch with runners on base
so you can make a move to the base without balking.

Whats the difference between the stealth and the connexion?

when the runner is on first base the pitcher doesn't raise his leg so he can keep an eye on the runner so the pitcher is looking at the side when he start to throw not in front.

Why do the Texas Rangers stink?

I'm not sure what you mean exactly, since you could be talking about a couple things. A pitcher's stretch is his pitching hand stretching forward after a pitch.

The seventh inning stretch is an old marketing ploy the they used in old baseball parks to keep people alert and make them go buy beer and hot-dogs in the middle of the seventh inning.

A stretch catch, is just that, when a fielder stretches to catch a ball.

I think there are a few more this could mean, but most likely you mean the "seventh inning stretch" as this is the most common usage.

Top 10 pitchers in baseball?

out of the stretch normally means that the pitcher is not pitching out of his windup. Usually, a runner is on base and the pitcher is trying to keep him there.

Some pitchers (usually relievers) pitch from the stretch all the time because they feel more comfortable.
