Forearm/hands/wrists strength for baseball?
Question:when i play baseball with a 20 ounce aluminum bat im great but recently aluminum has been banned in high schools and ive tried to adjust to wood. however i find it difficult to swing with authority and i know its because of my weak forearms, hands and wrists. so how can i gain strength and become a dominant force in the game again

Young man...I have some experience that might help you. The previous exercises are great. But it really isn't about strength? Look at most middle infielders in the MLB. I played 2 seasons in the minor leagues and I have to tell you. Most dominicans or peurto ricans aren't the strongest players on the field. It really comes down to mechanics and repetition. I would have to bet that if you are using a 20 ounce bat in was -10 so that makes you in middle school.Your swing starts from the ground up. I teach a 4 step process that got me hitting 0 homeruns and 3 doubles to 17 homeruns and 20 doubles. Here it is and its free to you.
The Fundamentals of Baseball
Hitting
1.Stride and Separation- a short step forward with weight going slightly back on back leg. 40-60 split. Also hands separating back as you take the short stride. Make sure hands go back about 3-6 inches, keeping a flex in your front elbow, don’t lock it out. Hands should go straight back not up or down. Head doesn’t move forward, key to stay still! (Practice by dry work, soft toss and T-Work.)
2.Backside turn- the swing starts from the ground up, and back foot must lead before anything else. Term: squashing the bug. Get on the toe.On the toe means a slight turn to start the swing. Hands do not move forward stay going back. Make sure front hip, shoulders do not move as well. (Practice by dry work and soft toss or also t-work.)
3.Front Leg Straight, Knob of Bat inside Ball- wherever the pitch is, think inside. First starts with front hips rotational turn clearing way from back leg and hands. Take knob of bat, shoulder and head inside the baseball ball. Shoulders rotate across no dipping. At impact, front knee is straight, front elbow is straight and you are finishing behind ball. Practice by soft toss, t-work.
4.Finishing the swing and balanced- Full turn with back foot, and weight should be back and finish balanced “behind the ball”.
Little keys:
T-Work is the easiest way to practice the four steps. Middle pitch line up tee in line with front leg and outside pitch with back leg. Practice no stride to give the feeling of balance and stride. Always think inside half of the ball by attacking inside (think taking knob of the bat inside the ball.) Outside pitch nothing changes, except where you hit it and just have to wait longer. Inside pitch, recognize and turn a little more on back foot and bring hands in a little quicker. Off speed, recognize and keep weight and hands back (step 2) taking the pitch up the middle or to opposite field.
Training: dry work; practicing the 4 points mentioned above.
Soft toss; another person tossing the ball about waist high (in, mid, away)
T-Work; using a tee and practicing inside, middle, and outside pitches
Our Goal: To successfully teach these basics to take into the game. Only going to be done by practicing these 4 steps repeatedly over time and by doing these steps correctly. Perfect practice makes perfect.
Guarenteed success. God Bless you

Most players have hard making the transition as did i, id say try to just get used to the feel of the bat and adjust your swing accordingly to the wood because even i have changed my swing a bit try not going all the way back and moving your weight down on the bat to give you more power and spread your legs out farther. As for strength id say just do curls either priest or just straight bar curls should provide adaquete results. This along with your stance adjustments should offer you better results. If that helps let me know id like to see how it works out for you.How many losses in a row will it take steinbrenner to blow his top?
Try a piece of round wood about a foot long and tie rope to a 3 to 5 pound weight attach it to the wood. Holding your arms straight out roll the weight up and unroll it. This will strengthen all areas as well as your shoulders!More Questions & Answers...
