Rod carew, george brett, or tony gwynn?
Question:
Answers:
My dads fav player was Rod Carew, mine was Don Mattingly, but growing up watching Gwynn its hard to imagine anyone being a better hitter for average than Gwynn.
My vote is Gwynn just because I saw him play everyday. But a very hard question after looking at the stats.
Last Yankee to hit for the cycle?
tony gwynn... i grew up watching him and he was as good as they coming hitting wise.Should i long toss or lift to gain some mph on my fastball?
Carew was the best contact and for-average hitter of the three.Brett was the best hitter for power of the three.
Gwynn was the best hitter for average AND power combination of the three.
And by the way, Gwynn was the best all-around player of the three. He was a heck of an outfielder with a strong arm, as well as the best baserunner.
I'm 21, can I play American Legion Baseball?
George Brett. The other two were good but they were no George Brett. Plus, George won a world series. With the Royals no less!Tony Gwynn great overall player
gwynn
Did They Postpone The Braves Game?
I would say Gwynn was probaly the best pure hitter of the 3.In four games into the season, could the 2007 N.Y. Mets be compared to the 1998 N.Y. Yankees?
Rod Carew was a good contact hitter. Tony Gwynn is my favorite of the three. But George Brett has to be the best overall.He had more power than Carew and Gwynn and played the toughest position of the three.
Do you know where I can find a video of Mark Grace pitching for the Diamondbacks?
Brett, he was at least something of a power threat that the other two were not.If the bases are loaded and the walk the batter does it counts as an RBI for that batter?
Tony Gwynn. Great hitter, great attitude. Wish he played in Philly.Does anyone know what hotel the yankees stay at while in anaheim?

Career statsPA == plate appearances
OBP == on-base percentage
SLG == slugging average
RC == runs created
adjOPS == adjusted On-base Plus Slugging, normalizes to a scale where 100 is league average and higher is better.
Player // PA // OBP // SLG // RC // adjOPS
Carew 10550 .393 .429 1588 131
Brett 11624 .369 .487 1892 135
Gwynn 10232 .388 .459 1670 132
That's a lot closer than I thought it'd be. Anyway... I'd go with Brett. A point of OBP is harder to come by than a point of SLG, but what Brett gives back in on-base he more than makes up for with power. And he played third base (quite well), and that's a bit harder to find than an outfielder or a first baseman (if Carew had stayed at second he'd have a better case).
All three worthy of their Hall plaques, of course. Could argue for any one of them. I'll take Brett.
Tie between Carew and Gwynn. Best control hitters I saw.
I agree with Keith on that point. Tony Gwynn was the best contact hitter I ever saw; Carew was second. George hit with more HR and extra-base power. Not an easy question to answer. I'm gonna have to pass on this one.
What do umpires think about during a typical major league baseball game?

Which sports logo is more gangsta? White Sox, NY Yankees or LA Dodgers?
To young to remember Rod Carew or George Brett played. Although I remember seeing Mr Carew from time to time when he was the Angels hitting coach in the 90s. I will say Tony Gwynn, since I had the opportunity to see him play. It was awesome seeing a living legend play. Thanks be to God, inter-league play was invented. I got to see him play when the Padres faced the Angels.What store around brookfield, ma that will buy baseball cards from me?
Rod Carew.Carew played before the major expansion in the number of teams--this expansion diluted the pitching talent. Gwynn and Brett had more of an advantage than Carew because the pitching was weaker due to this dilution effect.
Because the stats of all three are so close, I would take Carew due to the fact he hit during a period of better pitching.
It all depends. If you needed a sacrifice bunt it would be carew, he was the best. If you needed a home run it would be Brett. If you just neede a base hit, then it would be Gwynn.
