Who is the Kansas City Royals Closer?? Joakim Soria or David Riske?
Cole Hamels is a very young guy who has never thrown that high before. Yes he was throwing good, but you were not feeling the pain in his arm were you? Younger and younger pitchers get Tommy John surgery because of overuse. Scott Mathieson is a good one to look at. a man can easyly through out his arm pitching 90mph for 100 pitches. it only makes scence10 pts. to the first person to get this Buckner question?
Just worried about arm injures it is pretty dumb you'll never have someone throw more than 4 or 5 CG a year back in the old days it was much better pitches and really everyone was more durableIs Gary Sheffield a Christian?
in little league i pitched ONE game and have had tendonitis ever since. and thats me throwing 40 mph and not knowing how to throw curves. teams are paying these guys millions and if they get hurt all that money goes down the drain. Are the Rockies going to do good this year?
A 100 pitches is alot for an arm to throw. They take them out to try not to throw their arm out. Espically early in the season. Alot of pitchers careers end early due to arm, elbow, and shoulder problems. That is why they spend millions on a bullpenWhat team has the weirdest fans?
sometimes the coach don't want 2 waste his arm and there is a pitching limit...u can only pitch about 110because you are not the one paying multi million dollar contracts for these players! i would be protecting my investment at all costs. baseball has guaranteed contracts, so if hamels throws out his arm i still gotta pay him!
What Are The Qualifications For Commissioner Of MLB?
100 pitches has been this golden rule for beginning to think about taking starting pitchers out of ball games. Seem arbitrary to me. But managers do this because it is believed that a fresher arm will have better success than one that is tired. But I've seen too many times the situation you've just described. It wasn't too long ago that if a pitcher were pitching well and a manager came to pull him, he would get upset. That doesn't happen often anymore, and when it does it is a guy like Schilling. (He doesn't do it anymore, b/c he isn't what he was and realizes it). They've tried to make a science of baseball when it is really an art. At least it is in this situation. If you watch closely, you can tell when a pitcher is beginning to lose it. One of the people who should see this best is the catcher. I wouldn't pull a pitcher if he was doing well unless I saw him beginning to lose it, not b/c I know that I've got a bullpen and feel that I need to use it. They treat pitchers too delicately and that is why you are seeing so many arm injuries today. Let them pitch, when they are in the flow of the game, they are in a zone. There is no way a reliever can be in the same zone. Are tier seats at Yankee Stadium any good? Bleachers?
Rule of thumb is most teams try to limit their starters especially fastball pitchers to about 95 -100 pitches and mainly its because of the arm getting tired and before they throw the big beachball up there. I pitched for 3 years in college and my arm started getting ragged around 75 and the velocity and ball movement started to decrease...point being when that happens is when starters can get in trouble and managers erring on the side of caution will pull the them.Pitch totals do matter especially today and I agree you don't see many complete games anymore even when the pitcher has it on 'cruise control' Teams are doling out big money today for pitchers and they will pull them to protect their investment. I hope I have answered your question...and I understand your frustration!
Its a long season why risk throwing out your arm so early.
Its very simple if you put it this way. Coaches are most cautious about their good pitchers getting a torn muscle in the arm.
