Dice-K, can we really judge him now?
Question:Dice-K made his MLB debut yesterday, and was great. But really guys, can you really say how good he is - I'm not saying that he's not - already? Too much hype around this guy. But think about it this way: You can't judge a pitcher until he's been around the block at least once. Nobody has been able to scout this guy yet.
Another thing to think of, when Chan Ho Park first started, he was unhittable. Look at him now, sent to the minors.
And who has the guy played so far? Colleges and the Royals. The Royals! I just find it a little humorous how ESPN and SI are just going crazy for the guy.

Why do setup men/closers always work from the stretch?
not quite yet, it was afterall against the kansas city royals. we can judge him when he faces a good team. What happened to harold robbins?
I'm no baseball fan but I hear the guys got 8 pitches. The guys in the batters box have no clue whats coming at them. The real question is that of the durability of him. His ability not to get injured or throw his crap outta whack.i say its the start of a long and historic career he will be better than nomo but i think he will win rookie of year but will not be like a superstar for a little while i mean he will not be like cy young winner for a few years and he may make all star this year i think he is a great and beatiful pircher.
Maybe, because even though he had 10Ks, don't forget that the Kansas City Royals are one of the worst hitting teams!
Why are baseball fans impressed?
If you watched the game, the guy has amazing control. With all six pitches. That's right, he used six pitches.
He also varies the speed of the pitches amazingly. From about 68 miles per hour to 94 miles per hour, if I remember right.
And he did all of this in rather horrible weather-game time temps of 35 degrees. Anyone that has ever pitched realizes that weather this cold slows your pitches down, makes it harder to hold the ball for some pitches, and in general makes pitching a miserable experience. So, add a few more mph to his fastball for good weather, and he is hitting near 100 or a bit above with his fastball.
The most impressive thing to me in that control. Take any pitcher, and if they lose their control, their ability to get people out is gone. If you watch Santana pitch, on the games that he is off you notice that he does not hit his spots. When he struggled last year, it was because he left pitches up. Dice-K seems to have that amazing control that will help prevent this.
To have an idea of his control, think of Greg Maddux in his prime. I am not saying his control is that good, but from what we have seen in spring training and this game he seems to be in that category. And any pitcher with that kind of control will be good.
He also pitched 250 pitches in a high school game (17 inning game), then pitched a complete game the next day.
Simply amazing.
What baseball player has the best OBP percentage of all-time?
He could be the next Pedro or the next Nomo only time will tellWhat position player would be the best pitcher?
i've been saying this for a while now...it is impossible to pass judgment on him until the major league hitters have been able to see him, he's been able to see the hitters, and the results then come to pass...at that point, we can decide exactly how good or bad he's going to be, but we need a larger sample firstIf you had to root for at team in the opposite league of your favorite team, who would it be?
Too early, but he sure looked good against KC.He pitched very well in the Baseball World Classic and in the Japanese major leagues.
Ask again in September.
Does anyone have an mlb.tv account?
You cannot judge anything in baseball on one performance. Dice-K looks to be a solid pitcher, possibly even a terrific pitcher, but let's see how the season plays out before anointing him "the next big thing".In baseball, what does the term'sandwich pick' mean?
Yes i think he's amazing. Can i use cooking oil to break in baseball glove?
