the gyro ball is a ball thrown with the same rotation of a bullet. It is a wild pitch that has the same movement as a slider and a change up. From my understanding the ball should have the same spin or look the same as a curve or slider to the hitter.Because the pitch is not thrown from the palm of the hand (reverse, downward spin) but with the movement of a football or bullet (on its side) it does not break (less resistance) and appears to rise when compared to a fastball.
EDIT:
One other aspect of the Gyroball is that if you colored a baseball a different color on each side and you threw the Gyro perfectly, you should only be able to see one color coming at you. (Just like a football should not "wobble" when thrown correctly, and Gyro should not "woble" at all but just have one side of the baseball face the batter)
