it's a true honor to have had jackie's number retired through out baseball. it's even more an honor for baseball to allow players to wear his number for a game. the dodgers did it right by suiting everyone up in number 42.
barry bonds has never been caught using steroids. and even if he had, he was using them in a time when baseball had no rule against using steroids. you can't cheat or break a rule if there is no rule in place. barry is wearing number 42 to honor jackie. barry has often times talked about growing up with his dad playign in the 60's and how hard he had it being a black man in baseball. baseball is still a white man's game 60 years after jackie robinson.
baseball did get it right letting people wear number 42 for a day though. a few years back when johnny U died, peyton manning asked to wear black high tops for a game to honor johnny unitas and football wouldn't let him. that was stupid. baseball got it right.
