no !! it starts and stops at different times for each team but all teams start in April and end in OctoberIt`s not too long for me ! starts in april & ends for most teams at the end of September.

The MLB regular season is 162 games long. Beginning in April, the MLB season culminates with the World Series in October. A team playing in every possible game, regular season and playoff, would participate in 181 games. The length of the season initially expanded as the number of teams in each league, National and American, expanded; however, by 1962 the current 162 game schedule was permanently in place (interestingly, the American League started playing 162 games in 1961, a year before the National League made the leap).Since the inception of the 162 game schedule, from 154 previously, the format of the schedule has been altered a number of times as divisions were shifted and inter-league play was introduced.
As for my opinion on the length of the season: I don't think the season is too long. The length of the season has a number of benefits:
1. Watching division rivals play each-other again and again intensifies the rivalry.
2. Players skills should be affected by their endurance, i.e., endurance should be a coveted skill in any sport.
3. Teams are generally fighting until the end of the regular season in at least half of the MLB divisions to win one of the very few playoff spots (as opposed to basketball and hockey, where half of the teams make the playoffs), so the length of the season doesn't deter from the level of competition you see on a daily basis or the relevance of each game.
4. Who would want to see less baseball?

yes, it should start in july and end in august. play doubleheaders everyday so that the players actually have to do SOME work and earn at least PART of their paycheck.that way it'll leave the TV unmolested so that America can focus on the 2 sports that DO matter. football and hockey.
oh yeah, those sports have actually managed to prevent a wave of drug infested hysteria and cheating from sweeping thru them. and hockey actually has class.

baseball is boring. i have to wait for the batter to do his job while the rest of his overpaid, chubby teammates laze out on the bench. he wants to step out of the box and scratch his nutsack. and then when the batter is ready, the pitcher wants to do his twitch. and then scratch his nutsack. meanwhile, all the fielders are hoping that the ball isn't hit to him, so they can continue to laze around in the field and watch dandelions grow. then all the stupid fans throw beach balls on the field and we have to wait for just a stupid pitch. for a lowsy pitch. and then the batter wants to be picky, so he lets a perfect strike go by
hockey players do their job constantly, and play stops only if there's a penalty, a goal, or the puck leaves the rink.
