Padres got a better pitching rotation with Peavy and Maddox. As far as batting is concerned, in my opinion both teams struggle to put up big numbers in the runs department. Then again Padres do play in that very challenging Petco Park. I'd have to go with the Padres. Love watching Willis and Cabrea though!

The Padres have been around since the 50's...they have been in two World Series .and lost both. They have Hall of Famer Tony Gywnn and Dave Winfield. Ozzie SMith started there.and thats it.
The Marlins although they are young(started in 1993) have won 2 World Series since 1997.the Cubs havent one in 99(jab since I am a Sox fan)

Maddux isn't that good of a pitcher anymore, and Dontrelle, Olsen, and Sanchez beat the crap out of Young, Peavy, and Maddux. The Marlins offense doesn't struggle to score runs, there line up is one of the best.

Padres. They're a more balanced club, and Peavy is just lights out. The Marlins have some nice players, but need more veterans to balance the club out-too many kids.
